Did you try Googleing window.close firefox
I did and found the answer immediately.
Takes a look at http://www.interwebby.com/blog/2006/02/04/3/
and there are other hints returned from that google search

Paul,
Isn't this a security issue? I mean, it should not be possible to close
a window you didn't open. I find the solution very creative though.

I don't look after FireFox's security so you're asking the wrong person. This thread has been closed and replies have been disabled. Please start a new discussion. Similar topics |

First a basic outline of what I am trying to do:
I want to have a page spawn a pop-up when you click "submit" on its
form. On this pop-up page there will be another form. When you click
"submit" on the pop-up's form I want the pop-up to close & a new page
to load in the "parent" window/page. I have this working in IE but
cannot get it to work in Firefox. The parent window correctly loads
the new page after submitting from the pop-up,...

Hi, I want to open a new browser window, let the user use that window
for several minutes, and when they close, I'd like to change the page
displayed in the original window.
According to numerous articles found Googling, this should work, but on
my WinXP system, using Firefox and IE, I get nothing (when allowing
pop-ups, if pop-ups are disabled, IE reports the window is closed,
Firefox gives a JS error on checking the window handle). No...

Up until a few weeks ago, javascript code like
window.open("http://mydomain.com", "windowName");
would always bring my new or reused window to the top, with focus.
Lately, Firefox (Deer park alpha 2) only brings it to the top if the
window is new. If it's being reused, the window does not come to
the foreground (with IE 6 it does).
Is there a new way in Mozilla/Firefox that I can ensure that this

I've a button that onclick calls a function that calls the following
code. The last 3 lines are for IE, which didn't want to close till I
put in the funny line with opener.
window.parent.focus();
window.close();
window.opener = window;
window.close();
window.parent.focus();

After considerable googling - I mean searching with Google(r) - I
could not find javascript on a button or <a href=... to close a
window in the latest versions of IE and FireFox.
There seemed to be two techniques for earlier versions. But the
window.opener='' ;window.close();
and the
window.open('','_parent','') ;window.close();
techniques do not work for me. I.e., I still get confirmation message

Hi,
I my Javascript I popup an authentication window using the command;
unamePasswdWindow = open("auth.html","","width=500,height=100");
This works fine in IE, and in Firefox 2.x on Windows and Linux, but the
open() just returns a null in Firefox 1.5 on Tru64 Unix.

I have 2 FireFox (version 2) browser windows opened.
One is the child of the other.
When the user is finished with the child window, a method in the parent window is called to refresh a section of the page.
This is the JavaScript code that I'm using to refresh the content in the parent page:
<script type="text/javascript">
function UpdateList() {

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
