Popup Windows and Default Browsers

Hi,

As far as I know, normally popup windows open in the default browser.
Is there a way to make popups open in a specific browser (in my case
Internet Explorer) when the default browser is a different one?

Thanks,
Raffi

No. Executable files on the user's system can open any browser they want by
referring to the browser executable (for example McAfee Security Centre
ignores the default browser and opens Internet Explorer), but this is
inaccessible to websites (unless there's a major security hole).

If you ask yourself how you would manage that on a non-IE computer then
the answer becomes obvious in a hurry. You can't dictate to me (or
anyone else) what browser to use.

Seems I still haven't got the hang of all those window generating code in Javascript. I've got a page with about 15 photo thumbnails. When you click on a thumbnail a new window pops up which shows the enlarged version of said thumbnail. This works fine on all current browsers I've tested. However, in case I do not close the popup but click on another thumbnail instead, only IE replaces the enlarged pic by the new one, Firebird and Opera...

First, I'm sorry if this question has been asked too many times. I'm new to this news group. The question has to do with the use of popup windows in a web page. I have heard that popup windows should be avoided; due to use of popup blockers and browser that do not process javascript. Is the use of popup windows bad design? Will it severly reduce the usage of our web page?

First, greetings to everyone :) I'm doing a university seminar & I've encountered a problem. I have a gallery with thumbnails linked on pictures. What I want is popup to be opened with dimensions of linked picture after clicking on a thumbnail. I found javascript which is compatible with IE, Firefox & Opera but I can't get it to work. All I get is this http://www.justfonts.com/tini/problem.html (thumbnail dissapeared).

I am trying to create a popup page (to act as a menu) from a parent page. When the parent page (index.jsp) calls my popup function (see below) it will properly open the correct size browser window only if the browser that index.jsp is opened in is NOT maximized. If index.jsp is maximized and then I click on the test link that fires off the openMain function, the browser that is opened for the popup is also maximized. function...

In Firefox I can resize the window that is created, but in IE I can't. Here is the code I am using: var generator=window.open('','name','height=500,width=675,resizeable=1,toolbar=0,menubar=0,scrollbars=1'); I also tried it with 'no' and 'yes' instead of '0' and '1'. I see the symbol in the window that I can click and drag, but, when I do click and drag, nothing happens.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
