Hiding a div in a popup window

Hi all,

If a page is opened in a popup window, banner1 should be hidden, but it
should be visible if opened in a normal window.

I am using following code:

function hideBanner(){
if(window.opene r){
document.write( '<style>#banner 1{ display:none; }</style>');

See demo page: http://kiranmn.netfirms.com/temp/opener.html

This code is working as expected in Win2000/IE 6.

But in
OS: Windows XP Home SP2
IE: 6.0.2900.2180.x psp_sp2_rtm.040 803-2158

banner1 is hidden even in opener (that is parent) window. Anything to
do with return value of 'window.opener' property?

Any of you guys facing this problem in your browser?

Thanks in advance

To test the demo page (in parent window as well as child window), copy
the link kiranmn.netfirm s.com/temp/opener.html and paste it in your
browser's address bar.

if you click the link, page openes in a popup and banner1 getts hidden.

When using the WebBrowser control, is it possible to cause popup windows to appear within the WebBrowser control itself instead of a new window? This is what I've written in the NewWindow2 event, but I can't figure out how to get the popup to appear in the same browser window. In this code the user is presented with "Yes", "No" or "Cancel". Yes allows the popup to spawn a window, No should load the popup in the same window and Cancel...

How can the toolbar and menubar be hidden in IE? When opening the window via javascript I can specify 'toolbar=no,menubar=no', which works fine. However if the window already exists how can I remove them? If the browser is Netscape I can use javascript: window.toolbar.visible = false; window.menubar.visible = false; but IE produces the error: "'window.toolbar.visible' is null or not an object".

I've got a rollover-popup menu which pops below the viewable area of my top frame. I don't want to resize the frame. Any way I can pop over the frame? Or make the pop-down background solid? Or pop side-ways? or pop upwards? Any suggestions welcome. Please respond to list, email isn't working.

I have an application that uses various popup forms. All of these forms are maximized when open. When they open you can see the windows start button and quicklaunch toolbar, but after a minute or so, the popup form takes over the whole screen and the user can't get to the quicklaunch toolbar without closing down. Any ideas what is causing this?

Hi, I've looked for a solution to this problem on google, read posts in this newsgroup and I still haven't found anything that could help me. Here's the scenario. 1. User accesses pageA.html 2. User clicks on menu link to open popup.html 3. pageA.html checks if popup.html is already open. It is not, open

Hi all, In my recent asp.net (2.0) project, I want to give a desktop-application look and feel to my users. I think I'll do it by hiding the browser's default menu & toolbar right from the default page (i.e: default.aspx), which also serve as my login page. And it should have cross-browsers capability. Can anyone give me some examples on how to do it?

Hi, I'm trying to use the Visibility Style attribute for a Div to effectively PopUp a lightweight window with some additional context-sensitive information, when a user mouses over a given field(s). The popping-up seems to work just fine; it's the tearing down that's giving me grief. If I stick a onmouseout event on the same input field that caused the onmouseover/pop-up, it starts to flicker 'cos the <divis placed for esthetically...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
