could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed

I am trying to open up a blank email message by using the mailto: url.
I have noticed that it will work for any value under 2013 characters,
but once I have a To: list longer than 2014 chars then I get this IE
error "Could not perform this operation because the default mail client
is not properly installed".

I know that this is not the ideal solution to have this many people in
a To list, but it is a requirement that Outlook open up with a list of
emails based off certain criteria from the application.

If this is a limit of IE, does the same contraint apply to all IE 6
browsers, or could other users within my organization have a different
limit.

Any help would be great!

How many addresses are you trying to send to!?

Well the number of addresses haven't really caused the problem. But,
it is basically about 75 emails that make up the 2014 chars.

I know I can use a WebForm to do this, but the owner specifically asked
for this and I want to find out what limtations there are to then
present this back to the owner.

I think the limit is imposed by the e-mail client. Lotus Notes
will only accept 200 characters in a mailto: link.

Hi, I'm using the System.Web.Mail class to send an e-mail from my ASP.Net application, but when sending the e-mail, I'm getting the above error. It seems to be because I have Office XP installed, and the version of CDO is replaced by this installation. I haven't been able to find this error anywhere on any MS site. Anyone have a clue on how to then actually send the e-mail? Thanks

Hi All, I have developed a web service and deployed it on the Win2000 box. I can access the web methods of this web service when my client application is debugged from VS.NET studio. But it fails with an 'Operation Timeout' exception when run from the compiled version. The client application is a windows forms application. The webserver has SSL certificate installed. It uses basic authentication. We are providing a valid un/pw and...

I have this error that is happening on all of our web servers (production included). It basically started occurring once we loaded 2005 sql client tools, asp.net 2.0 (and all related prerequistes) on our windows 2003 web servers (unfortunately they are needed, so uninstalling is not an option). The web app where this happens, runs both asp code and .net 1.1 code within the same web app. In the asp app, we scrape and post data to .net 1.1...

Hi, This is Jay Mehta. I have this problem when using LDAP. I extract names and EmailId's of all those present from LDAP and populate in a datagrid. Now when run locally, it is running properly. But when put on Web Server and try to access it from client machines, it is giving the Error as "An Operation Error Occured".

Hello, I am receiving this error when trying to instantiate a webservice component. I have 2 development machines, both are XP sp2 with VS 2008 installed. On one machine, the code works fine. On the other machine I get the error upon instantiating the service client. I add the reference by choosing Add Service Reference from the project menu, and pointing to the remote wsdl file. I can't seem to find what the difference between the two...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
