A programming the internet class has been asked if it is possible to
'grey out' the View Source option in a browser menu. Multiple
respondents think it is possible but not sure how to do it. I have
seen the 'Print' option greyed out at some sites...
Can you provide or recommend a specific way of achieving this? 4 2412

No, it isn't. I haven't heard of any way of doing this (not counting the bug
in IE which causes it to not work of the cache is full) for any browser,
let alone a cross browser solution. http://dorward.me.uk/www/hide/

Sounds like you need to get a new "teacher" for that class.

What's the point? In order for your browser to display the page it has to
download the page to your hard disk cache. You can view the source with
any text editor.

(a). If its a class, you are being asked to think about it. What does it
mean by "browser"? Does it mean the small-footprint browser I wrote for
myself for fast-searching across multiple search engines? It is a real
enough browser - but it has no "view source" option at all.
So how would you "grey out" what does not exist?
Multiple respondents think it is possible but not sure how to do it. I have seen the 'Print' option greyed out at some sites...
Challenge them to prove it. Then write your own using something simple
like the IE control in ActiveX... but don't put a "view source" option
on your browser either. Then ask them to show you their "method" using
MSIE, Firefox, Mozilla, Opera and Konqueror... then yours.
Can you provide or recommend a specific way of achieving this?
In case you have missed the point... there is no "standard style" for a
browser, there are no "standard menu options" and there are no "standard
control tools" either. It is not even remotely possible simply because
you have no idea whatsoever what the word "browser" means in this context. This thread has been closed and replies have been disabled. Please start a new discussion. Similar topics |

Hiall!
I have a demo viewer page for javascript stuff that has three buttons "DEMO"
"HTML" and "JSCR", and an IFRAME called 'viewer'.
Initially, the IFRAME gets loaded with the actual demo page, ie.,
viewer.location = dName + '.html';
where dName is the filename of the demo without extension.

hey everybody,
I have written a great browser but it is missing a feature (quite a lot

the View > Source function. for those of you who don't what i mean, it is
when you click a button in the view menu that says Page source (in Netscape)
and source (in Internet Explorer). if you click it, notepad opens. in that
window is the html for the page.
anyway, does...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
