loading java applet failed

2 New Member
I am a user, not a programmer. I arrived at this site because, while researching my problem, someone with a similar problem was referred here.

IE 7
Windows XP Pro SP2, all critical updates as of 11pm, 14 Feb 2007
java 1.5 11
before installing that, today, I uninstalled Java 1.5. 6 & 1.5. 10
ethernet connection

I am trying to view the animation at www.time.gov

I can use java at www.java.com to play golf solitaire. I can use java at www.dslreports.com/speedtest.

I have set IE to treat http://www.time.gov as a trusted site.

What problem are you getting then?

I am trying to view the animation at www.time.gov
After clicking on the map, I am taken to a new page. In the area where the time animation usually appears, I see a brief [ less than a second ] star shape, then the area goes white, except for a rectangle with red "x" in the upper left.
In the IE status bar appears "loading java applet failed".

I apologize for not explaining my issue.

hmmm

Unfortunately there could be many reasons for this. The problem might be on the site itself. Are you able to access the applet from other computers/networks?
