Hi
Is there any difference between JDK and J2SE?
What is standard name of Java distribution - JDK or J2SE?
Also when we say JDK 1.3, Does it mean JDK 1.3.x or a specific version
say JDK1.3.1_07?
thanks,
Naresh
At java.sun.com, you can download the J2SE SDK and/or the J2SE JRE (which is
the runtime only). The J2SE SDK is equivalent to JDK. JDK is what it used
to be called and some people continue to call it.
When people say JDK1.3, it means version J2SE SDK 1.3.0 and all the
subsequent minor changes in 1.3.something. By the way, the most current
"release" version is 1.4.2_01 now. So if you have not been using any JDK,
forget about 1.3 and go with the latest version instead.
Hope this helps.
