I have a query with 4 tables and plain 'JOIN's
the explain gives the best join order, and it completes in 1.5 secs
I add a single ORDER BY (a calculated column) and the join orders all shift
and the query takes 85secs!
So I read the docs and it suggests STRAIGHT_JOIN to force join order.
now I was using:

Hi
I'm having serious problems with a mission critical app that runs on
postgres (and has been running for the past 3 years). It's rather large,
and lately things are not going well. The planner is getting 'nuts',

The strange thing is that running the same query with the same database

I have a query like this:
SELECT ... FROM u, d WHERE d.ukey = u.ukey AND <restrictions on u> AND
(d.status = 3 OR (u.status = 3 AND d.status IN(2,5)));
explain shows:
-> Aggregate (cost=126787.04..126787.04 rows=1 width=4)
-> Hash Join (cost=39244.00..126786.07 rows=387 width=4)
Hash Cond: ("outer".ukey = "inner".ukey)

Today I got the error:
ERROR: FULL JOIN is only supported with mergejoinable join conditions
Which is really annoying since a full join is exactly what I wanted. I
guess the alternative is to do a left join and a right join and merge
them? Is it just that no-one has come up with a way to code this
efficiently?
Maybe someone has a better way to express this. The problem is I have

Guys I am really stuck on this one. Any help or suggestions would be
appreciated.
We have a large table which seemed to just hit some kind of threshold.
They query is somewhat responsive when there are NO indexes on the
table. However, when we index email the query takes forever.

- The problem is very "data specific". I can not recreate the

Hi,
is there a rule of thumb what is better/faster/more performant in SQL
Server 2005?
a) SELECT * FROM A INNER JOIN B ON B.ID = A.ID AND B.Cond1 = 1 AND
B.Cond2 = 2
b) SELECT * FROM A INNER JOIN B ON B.ID = A.ID WHERE B.Cond1 = 1 AND
B.Cond2 = 2

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
