I have a query of the kind brains of this group.
Is it possible to access a microsoft sqlserver database (for select, insert,
update, delete, and for miscellaneous administrative actions such as table
and index creation and deletion) remotely from a compiled C program (and/or,
from Perl) running on a NON microsoft platform, such as Sun's Solaris and/or
Linux?
What toolset(s) could be used (on the UNIX/Linux end) for such a purpose?...

Hello 2 all,
Maybe my question can be very stupid, but I'm a little confused.
When I run sp_who on my database, I see one process (accessing remotely
my database from another database on another SQL server) many many
times.
Well, I assume that this is one process, because I cannot imagin that
the data aquiring can be done by almost 1000 (thousand) opened
connections.

I have a situation where accessing perfmon counters remotely does not
display the same list of Performance Objects remotely as it does when doing
it from the host of SQL Server.
From the host of SQL Server if I run perfmon.exe I will see performance
objects for all instances of SQL Server running. I.E. all entries for
default instance "SQLServer:....", all entries for non default instance like
"MSSQL$.....".

Hi
We had an sbs 2003 with isa 2000 server. We wre able to access a
remote sql server (hosted at our web host) just fine. We replaced the
server with a new sbs 2003 r2 with isa 2004 server and even though I
have opened port 1433 in isa 2004 we can't access the remote sql
server anymore. Where can I look for any blocks?

I'm in the process of finalizing my site. I spent quite a bit of time
designing content pages and would like to cut on development time by
simply managing the DB (SQL server, evt. MySQL) via MS Access. This
works well in my local environment. Can this be extended to a host
provider environment as well? Aside from interaction delays, what are

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
