  1.
  2. System.out.println("Chinese");
  3.
  4. System.out.println("\u6B22");
  5.
  6.
The above code written in java doesnt display in chinese as per expected. Should i make some changes to my system or any other settings in order that i can view the expected output.

The same question is for the other languages(frenc h/german/japanese) too.

You probably need to install the appropriate language packs for your OS to see them correctly.

So if I give you the characters A to Z can I expect you to write Chinese characters?
I should supply you with the appropriate font first otherwise I can't expect anything.

kind regards,

Jos

I am in the process of creating an international GUI application with C# on ..NET1.1 (Win2k), which is supposed to implement a particular look/design. In order to achieve this, I plan amongst others to define a certain font (MS Arial Unicode) for the user controls, and provide custom controls which have the font property fixed set to this...

Is it correct that Unicode characters with code points above 0x10FFFF are not supported by C#? I have a hard time believing this since it would eliminate some Asian languages. If it is true, is there a workaround? Do other .NET languages support code points > 0x10FFFF? I appreciate any comments. Thanks, Johannes

Hi I need to store accented characters in a postgres (7.4) database, and access the data (mostly) using the postgres JDBC driver (from a web app). Does anyone know if: 1) Is there a performance loss using (multibyte) UNICODE vs (single byte) SQL_ASCII/LATINxxx character encoding? (In terms of extra data, and searching/sorting speeds).

As was seen in another thread, there's a great deal of confusion with regard to surrogates. Most programmers assume Python's unicode type exposes only complete characters. Even CPython's own functions do this on occasion. This leads to different behaviour across platforms and makes it unnecessarily difficult to properly support all...

Hello, I hope someone can illuminate this situation for me. Here's the nutshell: 1. On start I call locale.setlocale(locale.LC_ALL,''), the getlocale. 2. If this returns "C" or anything without 'utf8' in it, then things start to go downhill: 2a. The app assumes unicode objects internally. i.e. Whenever there is

Hello - I'm working on a team that is planning to add Welsh language support to a large existing IT system which is partially web-based and English-language-only so far. I've heard that 2 characters in Welsh (w-circumflex and y-circumflex) are not supported in our default ISO-8859-1 character set, so a partial move to Unicode for internal...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
