Hello.
I am using a StringComparato r to sort an ArrayList by a few different attributes. StringComparato r's compare(Object a, Object b) method takes two objects and returns an int value. This compare() method is automatically used by java's built-in sorting functionality.
The two objects I am using are called 'Submission's. I am trying to access attributes of each 'Submission' to sort from, but I don't know how to access 'Submission' methods when they must be passed simply as objects. I have tried casting them to (Submission)'s, but I get a class-casting error. Here is the pertinent code:
Method call from another class: -
ArrayList scoringSet = DataObjectFactory.createScoringSet(fileStream, user);
-
Collections.sort(scoringSet, new StringComparator());
-
Method in StringComparato r class: -
public final int compare (Object a, Object b) {
-
-
Submission sub1 = (Submission)a;
-
Submission sub2 = (Submission)b;
-
-
return sub1.getProblemIdx().compareTo(sub2.getProblemIdx());
-
}
-
So I need to access the problem_idx attribute, which I would normally do by calling Submission.getP roblemIdx(). However, it fails when attempting to cast a with '(Submission)a; '.
Any tips?

'Submission' methods when they must be passed simply as objects. I have tried casting them to (Submission)'s, but I get a class-casting error. Here is the pertinent code:
Yes, casting them is good. But if you get a ClassCastExcept ion, it means there are other objects in your array then you think.
If you're using Java 1.5+, you can use generics so there is no need to cast: - class YourComparator implements Comparator<Foo> {
-
public int compare(Foo f1, Foo f2) {
-
// your code here
-
}
-
}
If you keep having problems, could you then post a piece of code to replicates this behavior? There seems nothing wrong with the code you posted.

Hi All,
I have a *.cer file, a public key of some one and I want to encrypt some
thing using this public key.
Can someone point me to a sample code for Encrypting some file using
X509Certificate ( *.cer file ) so that it can be used to email as

The real part is Encrypting using X509Certificate and CryptoServiceProvider.

Many of my C++ programs have the line
using namespace std;
but the "Accelerated C++" book of Koenig and Moo has many examples
where the library names are included one at a time, for example
using std::cin;
using std::cout;

I ran into a problem on HP-UX 11.00 the other day, where it refused to
compile a program using 'using namespace std;' at the top. The reason
seem to be that the compiler refuses to accept 'using namespace std;'
unless the std namespace was declared first.
This triggered my curiosity, and I tried to find out what the ANSI C++
standard had to say about this. I'm unable to find a conclusion, and
hope someone here have a clue to spare.

I've done some extensive searching and can't seem to find an answer to
this -
Is it correct to using "using" with templates, for example:
using std::vector;
Or do I need to specify the type too:
using std::vector<int>;
Both seem to "work" on the compiler I have and I can't find any
documentation saying which is correct, or are both correct?

In older C++ computer books, you'll often see
using namespace std;
even in my 1996 copy of Stroustrup. Nowadays, it seems to be considered
better to qualify names to make it clearer what symbol you are using.
Are there any articles that support this viewpoint? Is "using
namespace" definitively wrong, or just a matter of style?
How about when implementing a library "foo", would it not make the code

I have some .NET 1.1 code that utilizes this technique for encrypting
and decrypting a file.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307010
In .NET 2.0 this approach is not fully supported (a .NET 2.0 build
with these methods, will appear to encrypt and decrypt, but the
resulting decrypted file will be corrupted. I tried encrypting a .bmp
file and then decrypting, the resulting decrypted file under .NET 2.0
is garbage, the .NET 1.1 build works...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
