i want to know where to drop two jar fiels for JAVA MAIL....mail.ja r and activation.jar? ????
one more thing .... is there version compatibility?? ??
actually i downloaded JAVA MAIL 1.4 and JAF 1.1 and i have JDK 1.3.
so is there any chance of incompatibility ????

It's a Java extension so just put the mail.jar in your $JAVA_HOME/lib/ext directory.
(JAVA_HOME is where your jre lives) That .jar contains all server providers and
is the only .jar you need. (the activation framework is already included with your
core classes >= 1.5)

Reread my previous reply: JAVA_HOME is just an environment variable and
$JAVA_HOME is its value. I only used it as a shorthand for the directory where
your JRE lives. btw, the JavaBeans Application Framework is included with
Java 1.6, not 1.5. as I incorrectly wrote in my previous reply.
If you're using 1.6 you don't need to install the JAF separately.

now plz do one more favour for me .....
actaully i got activation.jar and mail.jar and also some jars comes with mail ......... lib->dns.jar,smtp.j ar etc.
now i dropped those files as ..... java 1.2 -> jre -> lib -> ext ->(mail.jar + activation.var + lib -> those extra jars)
i think i m right.
actually i m working with Oracle Jdeveloper 3.2.
now i get some error messages all classes related to mail r not recognized by compiler.
m i missing any libray adding???
plz help.
waht to do???
a project work got stuck.

As I wrote in your other thread(s): you should upgrade to at least 1.4, but it's a
smarter thing to upgrade to the latest Java version: 1.6.
