It's obvious, that Windows XP has a Java 2 VM (including the SWING-module),
because we can all run Java 2 applets in Internet Explorer. But what about
the support for Java 2 Applications?
I would just like to run an application packed in a JAR-file on Windows XP:
JavaProg.jar (Java Archive Resource). But without installing a SDK, i don't
have an association of the JAR-file to be started with JAVAW, or the JAVA
command to use 'java -jar...

Hello all,
Java has some printing problems with hp pcl5e and pcl6 drivers. I have
one another printer that is defined just as "...PCL series", and this
printer prints java output correctly. So, I tried to find only pcl
drivers for hp 2200L and hp 2300L printers, but I could not.
Do yo have any idea how to print from java to the printers with pcl5e
drivers?
Thanks,

Hi All,
Does anyone have any *unbiased* views (ie. hard facts) as to why .NET would
be better than Java for the development of Enterprise applications?
Best Regards,

I like Java just as much as I like C#, but the truth is that unless
you absolutely need platform portability, DotNet is the way to go.
This is becoming even more true with the release of Windows Vista
later this year. Users will quickly get used to the flashy Mac-Like
UI of Vista and expect all their apps to support Vista specific
features. Java will try to play catchup but but the UI will stll be
primitive compared to .Net, and it...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
