OK I am half way there - I can manipulate the stream
without the byte issue like this - but is this the way to
push the new values back into the stream & write out the
stream without resorting to byte conversion ??
FileStream stream = null;
stream = File.Open(fiPath, FileMode.Open,
FileAccess.ReadWrite,FileShare.None);
System.IO.StreamReader Tin = new System.IO.StreamReader
(stream);

Hi
I want to write (or read) to a stream, but the data is not byte array
I converted the data to byte array manually, but it is very slow, (becuse the data is very large)
Is another way for this kind of writing and reading
best regard
Ali.

Hey there,
I need a string stream, but I can't find one in .NET. I thought StringWriter
would derive from Stream, alas it doesn't do so.
Which leads me to my next question: What is the purpose of
System.IO.StringWriter (or, what is its added value)??? It can do the same
things with StringBuilder, and I see no added value.
The reason why I need the string stream, is that I have a library that knows

Hi all,
Sorry if this is the incorrect group but I couldn't see anything
directly relevant.
Can someone confirm for me what happens when two network streams are
sent to an application at the same time.
My scenario is a small server application that listens on a particular
TCP port. I am sending streams of data to it via a client app. Inside

I am trying to save a file dynamically created in a webpage. I get the
following headers, but cannot figure out how to save the attachment. I am
basically trying to replicate what internet explorer would do in this case.
The headers I am getting are:
Headers {Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="dynamic_file.mdb"
Connection: close
Cache-Control: private
Content-Type: application/octet-stream

I am trying to share a file stream between two threads,
but havent got a clue as to how to do it.
The first thread will be reading the file, and the second
thread will(/might) be writing to the same file stream. I
was going to pass a ref to the file stream to the second
thread, but the problem comes when I am trying to read
from one section of the stream and write to another. I
dont want one thread changing the position of the stream...

Greetings all...
I was playing around with compressing streams and came across a behavior
that I do not understand. I create a stream (input) from the contents of a
textbox. That stream is compressed into another stream (output). I then
copy the stream (output) to another stream (input2). The compressed stream
(input2) is then decompressed into a final stream (output2).
My question is this. I create input2 from output.GetBuffer()...

Hi all,
Is there a standard library function to insert an array of characters
at a particular point in a text stream without overwriting the existing
content, such that the following data in appropriately moved further
down? From a cursory search of the libc documentation I can't find such
a function. Will I have to write it myself?
Thanks.

Hi!
Is it possible to extract the mode flags of a stream (FILE* stream or
fstream - object), without looking at how the stream was opened?
What I mean by mode flags is wether the stream is opened in read only
mode, write only, binary and so on.
I did not find any functions in C, but I found something similar in C++,
the flags() member functio of an fstream object.
I've tried to check the flags on ios_base::binary ios_base::in binary...

Anyone have any idea how I can do the following?
I have a connection to an XML file on a site I do not control, getting
a string representation of the xml data that I can then feed to my
XmlDataSource object (CurrentXMLData):
Stream newStream =
myWebClient.OpenRead(myStringWebResource);
TextReader newReader = new StreamReader(newStream);
string newData = newReader.ReadToEnd();
CurrentXMLData.Data = newData;

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
