Can An Applet Display an Image From Another Website?

Is it a security restriction, or is it possible to display an image from a
website other than the one on which the applet resides (without external php
or javascript workarounds)?
Thanks,

There's a website I like to visit that has an user-interactive java application. There's a "visual applet" component and "control applet" component. (No, it's not an adult or porno site.) But the application isn't always usable because one or both of the applets have "failed," and has to be reset or something like that. I don't get it. How the hell does an applet "fail"? It's a set of instructions in code, right? It doesn't...

Here is a test page http://www.maproom.org/maps/historical/droysens/1886/testj.html which uses a Java applet to take a .DjVu format file and display the image which it encodes. The page is simple html, you can view its source. When I started using this applet, it worked on my system with Mozila/Netscape, Mozilla/Firebird, Mozilla/Firefox, and Internet Explorer, all running on my WindowsXP system. I was warned that the applet worked...

hi all, i'm stumped. my applet used to load images over the network. (it was actually designed by someone else.) yes, the applet used to load each image file independently over the network and incurred a network hit per image file. i wanted to avoid the overhead of a separate network connection for each image file, so i bundled all the images into the JAR file. yet, somehow, the loading time for the applet is slower now! i'm totally...

I have a website & applet produced under Windows-XP. It works fine. I took it to a machine running Windows 98 & an earlier version of Java to test what happens when I open the web page using IE6 & FireFox. The html invoking the applet is: <applet code="assumptions.class" archive="popproj.jar" width='760' height='340'> This applet was coded using Java 1.5.0_08-b03.</applet> Instead of the expected text, both browsers said "Loading Java...

Hi, Recently on the web I came across documentation discussing Data Source Objects (DSO) in relation to browser and html functionality (in particular the ability to declare a Java applet as a data source that can be used with any or the HTML tags that take the src="" attribute). I find it interesting and potentially *very* useful and would like to know more, so if anyone can answer any of the following questions that would be great: - ...

Can anyone help me please? How do I convert these codes to launch from a JFrame instead of a Java Applet? A simple program where the user can sketch curves and shapes in a variety of colors on a variety of background colors. The user selects a drawing color form a pop-up menu at the top of the applet. If the user clicks "Set Background", the background color is set to the current drawing color and the drawing ...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
