Where would you start if you wanted to program
perhaps a java application to enable a bluetooth mobile phone to
work as walkie-talkie? ( schematics, compilers... )
thanks
Maybe here:

OTOH you may not be able to:
In DevelopersGuide _P800_T610.pdf Page 48:
T610/T616/T618, T628/T630, Z600/Z608 specifications
IR Yes
Java IR APIs No
Bluetooth Yes
Java Bluetooth APIs No
Serial Yes
Java Serial APIs No
Would seem to mean that there is no access from Java to any of the
interfaces! Deliberately, no doubt - your media stream of course has to go
via the telecom network provider @ a charge!
The *other* problem you will encounter is that you need access to the DSP
inside the mobile because that is where the sound is picked up - you will
need to get into the phones internal OS to do that, and then you will hit
the problem that while you just might get the "raw" sound, you cannot get
the "processed" d.o. - which is what you need because the microphones and
loudspeakers in the terminal is the worst crap available on the market and
the total lack of quality is compensated for by code in the DSP device.
To summarise: You can get Java tools and Emulators for free, *maybe* it is
possible to license the compiler and tools to build a Java native class to
access some of the lower level API's in the phone, *schematics* you will
never get!
