We are migrating a customer from Version 7.1 FP3, to Version 8.2 (8.1 FP8).
For the most part, things are faster, but there is one query that is
much much slower, and it is a query that is used all the time.
select ATTR1,ATTR2,ATTR3,ATTR4 from physical.part_list
where S_PART_NUMBER like '%KJS%'
The widlcard before and after seems to be hosing it, but for this
particular piece of the application, this type of query is neccessary.

I have a form with a combobox and a list box. The combobox will list
records (names of queries) that are entered in a table called
tblListName. I have the combobox set to get its values from this
table. tblListName has two fields: ListName and QueryName where
QueryName is the actual name of the query and ListName is a "friendly
name" to be displayed. No problem, I'm good so far.
However, I have trouble here: I want the listbox to list...

I own a small business. Need to track a few hundred pieces of rental
equipment that can be in any of a few dozen locations. I'm an old-time C
language programmer (UNIX environment). If the only tool you know how to
use is a hammer, every problem tends to look like a nail. That said, I
could solve my problem in C, but it's not the right tool. I need to come
into the Windows world, and I need to get this done in Access or
something...

Hi everyone
I suspect this has come up before, but google and group searches for
"python package index query" or "pypi query" and the like haven't
turned anything up.
I want to monitor the versions of the list of packages I like having
around, and I expect that the python package index might be a good
place to do this. Typically, such packages would include, say, Pyrex
and PyParsing, for example.

Hello, I need to merge a small table (of rows less than 100,sometimes
even 0 rows) to a big table (of rows around 4 billion). I used the PK
of the big table as merge key but merge does a table scan so it runs
for ever.
I checked the table and PK statistics of the big table and it looks
good. Please let me know if I need to check for something else.
Here are more details

Hi. I have this Combobox name 'Origin' that contains all states and
countries. I would like to create two Radio buttons (State and
Country) that when you select State, the combobox will query only the
states and vice versa for country. I've create two columns in the
Origin table (OriginState and OriginCountry) and set the data type to
'bit' to differentiate the two. How would I query the combobox when a
radiobutton is selected? Thanks.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
