Works in IE7, Opera, Safari...buggy in Firefox

3 New Member
Hi,

A noob here so please be gentle :)

I am revamping my dog's website (don't laugh, he's what got me off the couch to learn a little html/css in the first place). Everything seems to work fine in IE7, Opera, and Safari, but in Firefox, the second page is wonky until I hit refresh (I've only got the two pages so far).

Here's the site: http://brt.50webs.org/index.html

On the second page, the image and text in colOne that should be below the menu bar wants to scoot up under it. If I hit refresh, everything works great. Right now I have all my css in my html pages to make it easy for me to find mistakes and correct things right away in Html-Kit--I don't know if this is making things funky, but don't know why it would.

Any help is appreciated and thanks,
Maureen

It is probably a misunderstanding on my part, but the second page http://brt.50webs.org/gallery.html appears to render the same in the latest versions of Mac OS X 10.4.11 in Opera, Firefox, SeaMonkey, and Safari, and Camino; and, even in XP IE/7.0 and IE/6.0.

For clarification of all concerned, please state the operating system and the version of Firefox that is not working as intended on your end.

Thanks.

Sorry, it's Firefox 2.0.0.17.

If I open the page "cold", as in I wake up my computer from sleep or close Firefox and then reopen Firefox, the "gallery" page displays weirdly on Firefox, with the column 1 photos and text appearing behind the column 1 menu bar.

However, if I then hit refresh, it displays correctly and I can then bounce back and forth between the index and gallery pages without a problem.

It's a strange little problem and it doesen't occur when I use Html-Kit to create the page and then preview it using Firefox as my preview browser.

I realize the gallery page doesn't validate yet (and I do intend to work on it), but I can't imagine why the page works perfectly with the refresh?

Thanks,
Maureen

You can not trust any editor's viewer. Editor's viewers are not browsers.

I am not able to replicate the issue you wrote about in Firefox/3.0.3 from a cleared cache to shut down, nor on a cleared cache to a boot. It may be a 2x Firefox browser bug that has been corrected in current versions of Firefox. Download and install the current stable version of Firefox/3.0.3. If the problem still persists in FF/3.0.3 write back...

Thank you kindly, David. Installed new version and works like a charm now :)
