Site not working on Mac Firefox... why?

Hi group,

My website http://www.neave.com/ does not seem to work (no text appears)
when viewed in Firefox 1.5 on a Mac but it works absolutely fine in
every other browser I've tested on a PC, including Windows' Firefox.

I'm not on a Mac so can't test why this is happening... any ideas?
Thanks loads,
Paul.

I think you are in the wrong newsgroup. This group is about
"www.authoring.html", not Javascrap and Falsh.

The problem I'm having is to do with HTML & CSS, it doesn't matter if
you have Flash installed or JavaScript enabled. I've been told that in
Firefox on a Mac no HTML text appears, only the image.

If you can see the "PLEASE NOTE" message on Mac Firefox then maybe there
isn't a problem. If that's the case then please let me know.

Thanks,
Paul.

If you want to check the HTML problem, take out the JavaScript for a
testcase, or tell us beforehand that we need to disable JavaScript to
actually get a page that is not just flash.

I don't have a Mac, but the person who told you that there is only
text, could have a look again if you supplied a JavaScript-less page?
If then it does appear, you know the error must be somewhere in the
Script.

With Opera on Linux with javascript and plugins (ie: Flash) enabled I see a
brief view of the page then the whole screen goes grey. Right-clicking on
the screen reveals that the whole visible area (viewport?) has been taken
over by whatever Flash is trying to do.

Disabling javascript shows just the normal website.

It looks like you're trying to fill the screen background with a Flash image
which isn't working because it's covering the whole page.

My Firefox (1.5.0.4/OS X 10.3) shows an all-white background with some
text in the middle (approx 33% white borders to the left and right of
the text). The text says "Hello there...Welcome to the playground of one
Mr Paul Neave..." and there's a menu to the right of that. The text
changes when I roll over the menu items to the right (Flash Earth,
etc.), sometimes overflowing onto the copyright notice below.

FYI, Flash doesn't work for me under Firefox. I either never enabled it
or I deliberately broke it in order to restore some sanity to my Web
browsing. It's been so long that I can't remember which.

Mac 10.4.7, FF 1.5.0.4

If I have Javascript off, I see the page text complete with the "Neave"
graphic in the middle.

If I turn Javascript on, I see the "Neave" graphic fade in, then
the page freezes while "Transferring data from core.mocibot.com"
- what's with that?

Randomly clicking in the white space around the grahic makes
text fragments randomly appear, and the logo occasionally changes.

Looking in your javascript, I notice

var so = new SWFObject("neave_fade.swf", "neaveFade", "100%", "100%",
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
- is that what you meant?

Thanks David, your experience is what I've been told happens on Mac
Firefox. The Flash movie is supposed to be 100% as it uses "windowless
mode", or transparency, to allow the HTML to display over the top. A
bit of an odd technique, yes, but using transparent Flash works on all
other browsers as far as I'm aware. I'm guessing this is where the
problem is then and for some reason Mac Firefox can't render transparent
Flash. I've not heard any problem like this when using Safari, though.

I'll see what I can do... thanks for your help.
Paul.
