[Semi-OT] Possible RGB Hex Triplet anomaly?

Take a look at this page if you will:
http://www.sugapablo.net/temp/colortest.html

Does it look right to you? Should #0000ff and #000fff be the same shade
of blue? Especially since #ff0000 is red and #fff000 is drastically
different as yellow.

Maybe my monitor is busted or something?

Does anyone else find this strange? That the RGB levels would be
asymmetrical like that?

Careful - you want to compare #ff0000 and #ff0f00 here (or #0000ff and
#00f0ff)

Even after you've made that change, do bear in mind that while the
human eye can distinguish a few million colours, RGB can display 16
million colours, so in many regions of the RGB space nearby colours do
look identical even on a good monitor.

(On the other hand, in some regions of the colour space, the eye has a
very good capacity for distinguishing colours, and could distinguish
colours in-between adjacent RGB values)

If you break the rrggbb color codes apart into rr, gg, and bb values, you
get:

0000ff 00 00 ff
000fff 00 0f ff

ff0000 ff 00 00
fff000 ff f0 00

The difference between the green value of the first two is 0f, which is
less than 10.

The difference between the green value of the second two is f0, which is 15
times 10.

Given that the second change in the green value is more than 15 times the
first change in the green value, it makes sense that it would be much more
obvious to the human eye.

Rereading what I wrote, it might have been more direct to point out that
the change of f0 is exactly 16 times the change of 0f.
