From the CSS 2 specification:
Note that the A:hover must be placed after the A:link and A:visited rules,
since otherwise the cascading rules will hide the 'color' property of the
A:hover rule. Similarly, because A:active is placed after A:hover, the
active color (lime) will apply when the user both activates and hovers over
the A element.

Trying to make some images disappear on hover (works), and others appear
on hover (works not).
In tested browsers, this gives the expected result:
IMG.disappear {visibility: visible}
IMG.disappear:hover {visibility: hidden}
this does not:
IMG.appear {visibility: hidden}
IMG.appear:hover {visibility: visible}

Hi all,
I'm using the following code in my website, and it's looking totally
different on IE and Firefox. It actually works on IE while Firefox is
weird.
In CSS:
img.left_nav_1 {background: transparent;}
a.left_nav_1 { background : url(/images/rollovers_01.gif);}
a.left_nav_1:hover {background : url(/images/rollovers_01-over.gif);}

I have a multiple choice quiz where I would like to use CSS to change the
color of the answers upon clicking them. I would like to present the right
and wrong answers up front, rather than direct the user to a separate page
with all correct answers.
Do the answers have to be "links" for this to work? They have to be inactive
links, because they don't actually go anywhere. They only serve the purpose
of changing color whether they're...

The above HTML will display the title text when the mouse is hovered
over the displayed text but it disappears quickly.
There may be a better way to display text on hover using javascript but

I'm trying to use the hover pseudo-attribute to display footnotes in
documentation. The footnotetext is hidden until you hover over the
footnotemark. This work well in Safari and Firefox, but I can't seem
to get it to work in MSIE. Is this even possible in MSIE? If so, can
you explain why this CSS doesn't work?

Hi there,
I've got a gif with (highly) irregular shapes (lots of jigsaw pieces)
that I want to map so that each piece is a link...
The pieces are currently just a frame drawing, but as they are hovered
over I want them to be coloured in. I thought the easiest way to do
this would be to change the background image of the entire map (since
it's a bit of a pain trying to select each piece out of the image and

Hi,
I've googled for this answer but I don't think I know the right search phrase to type...
I have a fairly simple hover effect. When the user mouses over a link, a box appears with extra info. This works for all browsers. However, in IE7 only, it's as if the transparency is set to 60%. In other words, I can still see the text which is present without hovering. In FF, Safari, Chrome etc, it's totally blocked out when I hover.
Is there...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
