Footer Positioning Help

Hey i have created a footer class in a style sheet using absolute
positioning but the problem is when i shrink the browser window this
footer overlaps the main content as the windows shrinks. I have seen
on sites that if you shrink the web page, when it begins to overlap the
main content the footer won't overlap the main content.

Does anyone know how this is done as i'm ripping my hair out over it.

Thanks,

Clive.

Perhaps the newsgroup regulars could be invited to adjust these
kinds of nonsense "Subject:" headers when they appear, to assist
others to locate relevant threads subsequently.

Good advice may be had at
http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

Btw and IMHO, it's almost never a good idea to try to make a single
posting do the job of two questions. It just leads to discussion
threads that are even more fragmented and hard-to-follow than normal.

Greetings. I have a two-column web layout, where the first column is just the regular body text with a "marign-right" of 16em, and the second column is an "absolute"-positioned div with a width of 16em. I would like to have a footer extending across the entire width of the page, at the very bottom of the page (i.e., after both columns end). How can I do this? There is no way of knowing in advance which of the two columns will be...

I am trying to design my site without tables, using CSS for positioning and am having limited success. My main issue is I have a three column layout and my footer needs to run across the page, after the longest content from any column has finished. I've found a few examples and I thought I had mine set up correctly, but obviously something is wrong. So if there is any CSS expert out there willing to give me some tips... The page is...

I've been struggling to achieve the following layout for some time now and I'm not getting anywhere. I've tried several approaches including floats & absolute positioning and none seem to work, primarily due to the footer not being aware of the columns due to me floating / positioning them. I have the following (very simple) markup: <div id="head">...</div> <div id="left">...</div>

Hi all, I would like to know how to get two rows of text links to appear at the bottom of a page. Generally I have been using <div> tags with the id attribute and CSS to place blocks of text, tables and images where I want them to be, but this has got me a little stuck. My HTML code is: <div id="footer" class="footer"> Home | About | Essays | Discussions | Member Area | Links & Resources | Contact<p>

Hi to All, I am new to html authoring, so sorry if my terminology is not correct or exact. I would like to position a footer div to the bottom of the browser window. As I research in the web shows this could be done a containing element with "min-height: 100%;" and an absolute positioned element (div) inside, aligned to bottom ("position: absolute; bottom:0px")

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
