A List Apart: When will they update again?

I discovered "A List Apart" (http://www.alistapart.com/) about a month
ago and really enjoy their articles. They haven't posted any new
articles in awhile, though. How often do they update? What are some
good sites to get my daily CSS fix? I currently check out Mezzoblue,
Eric Meyer, and Zeldman on a daily basis.

So lets assume I have a list of tasks in db table (table looks like: ID, task, sort) And I want to reorder the task list without updating all the records in the table. I dont want to run a sql update stmt against every record to update the "sort" field. Any other easy way to do this? there has got to be a simple algo out there.

I've run CSSCheck on my style sheets and I always get a warning similar to this: "font: bold 9pt/100% sans-serif Warning: Absolute length units should not generally be used on the Web ..." Yet if I use 'x-small' instead of 9pt, I get bigger type on IE6 and smaller type on Mozilla. My choices seem to be:

Hi all, I am new to the list and I didn't want to seem rude at all so I wanted to ask if this was okay first. I have a program I have written in perl which uses a postgresSQL database as the backend. The program works but the performance is really bad. I have been reading as much as I can on optimizing performance but still it isn't very reasonable. At one point I had my program able to process 175,000 records in 16min 10sec on a...

It returns false no matter what could you look at the part and see what might need to be done to fix it. It reads in the file and sorts out the files into the four different lists. I have an application that has many windows. One window is used for order processing. I would like this window to display the other users who are also performing order processing (the idea is to prevent a user from opening an order that is being worked on by another user. I have considered using the database: * my query can return a user id or other identifier along with the order record so that when I populate my list view control,...

I have two lists, one above the other, and they are BOTH populated using vbscript and sql queries. what I want to happen is when they select something in the top list (departments) it refreshes the selections available in the bottom list (individuals) so in this case, if they select "IT" then the bottom list will update itself to show only: "me"

I'm writing a game that uses two functions to check and see if a file called highScoresList.txt exists in the main dir of the game program. If it doesn, it creates one. That part is working fine. The problem is arising when it goes to read in the high scores from the file when I play again. This is the error msg python is giving me Traceback (most recent call last): File "<pyshell#0>", line 1, in <module>

Hello all! I found a solution to my original question, but there's still so much I don't understand about it, I thought I'd give this forum a try. At the very least, maybe it will help someone else who got stumped like I did. It seems so simple... binding a DataGridView to a List<T>. These are the two general problems that I kept running into: (1) When the data in the list updated, the data on the screen did not update. (2) When I...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
