hi
i am creating one site and i am not allowed to use client side
scripting in site and i have one link in my one page. when user clicks
on this link the target page must be opened in another window. is it
possible to do it without using javascript,vbscript???

Hi,
I converted most (not all) of my pages at http://johnbokma.com/ to
XHTML. I thought this was just a small change from 4.01.
However someone stated quite vaguely that my pages are *not* XHTML since
when a UA requests a page and states that it can handle XML the server
still responds with a Content-type: text/html
I see that http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/ does the same (Firebird)

As you might have noticed I'm trying to clean up my web site's
HTML code. The way I do it is simply more or less redoing to
complete site, testing it on a web server I have set up on my
local network.
I have downloaded, and installed CSE HTML Validator Pro,
but I don't get the same results with that as I do with the online
validator on W3.org. And I can't upload files to W3.org either,
due to all the ASP code I use.

Hi everyone,
Is the W3C HTML Validator in error when it returns <br /> as valid
for HTML 4.01 Strict doctype?
In March 2004 , the Validator returned <br />, <hr /> and <img />
as invalid for HTML 4.01 Strict.
Liam Quinn said "You can't mix HTML and XHTML. You need to choose
one or the other syntax."

I'm programming some PHP discussion board that is supposed to appear

the content area of a proprietary CMS. As I need some more styles than the
standard stylesheet provides, I just added a <style> tag inside my HTML
code. It works fine in all the browsers I tested, but it seems to be more

Hi,
After a recent power failure, a program that uses a pgsql backend
(netdisco) started to send me nastygrams. I tried the author's suggestion
of running a VACUUM FULL ANALYZE VERBOSE;, but it still sends me the
messages. The data in the database isn't too important, i.e. I'm willing
to blow away data to try to fix the problem. Any suggestions?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
