Header and footer div's move when window is minimized

Hey guys,
I am quite new to web development and am self taught, I have an issue with a website I am developing for my college. The header and footer wrap tags I have created seem to move to the left when the window is minimized, I'm guessing this is something to do with the main div's in the center not moving to allow for the minimization? Does anyone have a solution? The site is in my test directory on my server here

I would appreciate any help please :)

I don't see it. I see the whole thing moving to the left, which it should cause it's actually centering itself. Which browser?

@drhowarddrfine
Sorry yeah that's what I mean, the header and footer move to the left and leaves a gap at the right side when minimized in all browsers.

If you minimize the window, then scroll either to the top or the bottom, then to the right, you can see the header and footer tags wrap end about 300px from the right side of the header tag.

I think I have solved this now, but for some reason the site seems to be different in different browsers, it only displays correctly in Chrome and Safari for some reason, anyone have any ideas? Or shall I open a new thread for this?

Okay, My solution was quite simple really, I just removed the background images from my header and footer container tags, then created a background image with gradient and set it to the page height but have it set to repeat-y for wider browsers, now all I need to do is increase the height if my pages gets taller with time, unless I find a way for it to move with the flow of the page. I am still learning so I may have done this wrong, but it will work for now.

Is there a way to remove the default footer/header from the printed page when printing a page from HTML/Javascript in IE 6? I want to use letterhead paper and I have to remove manually the header/footer from the default printer setting. I know that IE has lots of options/features, I spent a good time on MSDN but could not find anything. TIA Fred

I have a web form that generates 4 or 5 printed pages of html and a few images. I know how to insert CSS page breaks. Is there a way to calculate on the server where the page will break - like an IE print preview on the server ? or Is there a way on the server to include a header/footer such that when the web form is printed from Internet Explorer, each printed page has a header

Hi there, I'm having a problem with a webpage where hoving over the top navigation links causes my footer to jump up to the centre of the page! It only happens with IE7, and works fine with the latest versions of Firefox and Safari (both PC and Mac), and even fine on IE6. My main page has three columns in it, from left to right, 1, 2, 3. The foot is jumping up to the bottom of column 3 it seems upon hovering over the navigation...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
