Best way to make header [banner]

1 New Member
I want to create a header that will appear on the top of each of my webpages that shows our company logo and location addresses. I first created a jpeg image that appears on the top of each page but it doesn't appear crisp enough. I'm thinking of just creating the logo and addresses in a different div section using xhtml and css that will appear on the top of each page. Is this a good approach?

Hi, I am designing a web site that will that showcase a bunch of vacation pictures. It will have a banner and a navigation menu (consisting of 13 rectangular images that can be clicked). I am considering a few different layouts: - Banner on top, with the navigation menu immediately below it. The problem with this layout is that the menu would be about 770 pixels wide, since there are 13 items in it. Many users would have to...

Oddly enough, I found it difficult, using Google, to find a list of best-of sites based on the quality of their css packages. So I'd ask. Does anyone know of particularly good sites which are in good measure because of their creative and useful css designs? I'm aware of Zen Garden and a few others. So don't bother with those. And I hope I don't get replies from people with a 'tin ear' and no design sense. Good sites. Good pages. That's...

Still struggling with css. Anyone know how to put a tope background colour (matches the right part of the banner image) that stretches to the max. size of the window like the main div? My header has a big black 'box' at the top right. I would like to keep black as the main background colour of the header div though. Unless someone knows another way to make my header look good. Please point me to the correct newsgroup if this is the wrong place to post this question. My website is written in simple HTML and hosted on a windows server at secureserver.net (via GoDaddy). I use an ASP Web Stats program called Power-Stats to track my website traffic, search keywords... The data is stored in an Access Database hosted on my website. I'd like to be able to track how many clicks I get on each of my banner ads,...

Does anyone know why the header looks correct in IE 6.0 and not Firefox 1.07? I am trying to have a header that looks good when you expand it wider and smaller. In other words when you shrink the window narrower than the main header image it does not wrap, and when you expand the window wider than the main banner image the corner and background image expand to the size. It has one large image about 500 pix wide, a right corner that is...

Hi, I'm trying to produce a div layout containing a header on the top with fixed height, a footer on the bottom using fixed height and a content layer using what's left of the browsers window. So my header div is defined at top:0; height:40px , my footer is defined as bottom:0; height:40px and the content is defined as top:40px;bottom:40px; This works very well with firefox but doesn't work with IE, as IE ignores the bottom statement...

I am trying to create a site header that consists of three images, which should be displayed side by side. I want the header to be across the entire width of the browser window, whatever the width. To achieve this I the two outer Divs must be fixed at 150px wide, and I have background images this width. The image for the middle div, must grow or shrink as required, but must be centered. Can anyone send me some CSS that achieves what I...

I am retooling my design habits, trying to get rid of some mental artifacts, and trying to "standardize" my starting point "templates" (both html and css). I am also trying to avoid "div-itis." I find myself using selectors like div#header instead of just #header. I know that div#header and #header both refer to the same target, and (for me) it is easy to see exactly what the style is being applied to. Any thoughts, pro and con, on one...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
