Here's my situation. I have a statically positioned table that has an image in a cell. I also have some layers, defined by absolute-positioned DIVs for some animation. Everything works until I scroll/resize. Then the image "moves" on the screen but the animation doesn't. The net effect is that their relative positioning changes. I'd like to have it be that they would stay in the same relative position. I want to keep the image as an...

I'm trying to get an image to float in a window despite scrolling. I've gotten it to work on my Mac using IE 5.2, Netscape, and Safari, but it goes wonky when I test it on a PC. (testing with IE only at the moment.) Positioning is wrong, and it doesn't float at all. Here's a test page: http://www.bdiusa.com/mirrors/test.html I've tested the code using the CSS Validator on the W3 site - and it said it's okay.

Hello Reading the follwing document: http://www.w3.org/TR/WD-positioning-970131#In-flow it seems very clear that position:relative should be relative to the parent element. So in the following test case element1 and element2 should be placed side by side inside a centered white container element: http://www.markusernst.ch/test.htm

Hi, even if I have read more and more about the argoment (also in the W3C site), I still can't exactly position my boxes on the pages. I would to know what is the EXACT displacement between an outer box and an inner box (placed with the "position:absolute" property and the "top" and "left" values). Trust me: the W3C site doesn't explain this in details. It just gives

Hello experts, I would be very grateful if you would have a look at the following URL: http://www.omeganet.de/test.html The html file and the associated style have been validated successfully by the online validators of w3.org.

Hello fellow stylers, When trying this page http://www.gtalbot.org/BrowserBugsSection/PercentualRelativePositioning.html I get different rendered layouts with IE 6, IE 7 beta 2, Firefox 1.5.0.2 and Opera 9.0 build 8367. Firefox 1.5 and Opera 9 will just ignore the CSS declaration

hello , I have an issue positionating some pics I want to anchor to an existing table cell but I cant just place regular position on the cell because the background is fixed height and the set of pics is bigger then fixed space. SO I put them in a position:absolute div and I gave a position:relative to the container td. This seems to work in IE but in Firefox position is relative to the browser window, not the cell. I need a compatible solution...

According to my book on CSS, if you apply 'position: relative' to a block-level element, it will stay exactly where it is. However, you can then use top, left etc. to offset the element relative to its position. However, looking at other people's stylesheets, I often see 'position: relative' applied to elements but without the use of top, left etc., which makes me think using 'position: relative' has some other effect that my book has...

Hi! I'm attempting to display a <div> element on top of my page's content so that the user cannot interact with it while being prompted to answer a question. I have set this <div> to have a position:fixed style (have also tried position:absolute as well). On my page I have a button with a style of "top:50%; position:relative;" and this button is appearing on top of the <div> element that is supposed to be preventing user interaction. I...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
