Is it possible to vertically align an image in the middle of a DIV of fixed height?

Hi
I have a strange problem with vertical-align. The case can be viewed at
http://www.brainput.info/geschichte.html.
HTML code:
<div id="bild"><img src="geschichte.gif" width="274" height="29" alt="Wir
schreiben die Geschichte Ihres Unternehmens."></div>

I'm trying to make some "sub-cells" in an HTML table and to control
their positioning and content presentation via CSS. In the table at
the following URL:
https://fshn3152.foods.uiuc.edu/~fgasper/erf.html
what I'm immediately trying to do is vertically position the text and
checkboxes in all four "Statement Date" sub-cells (created with <span>
elements).

Okay, I've been scouring Google for hours looking for a solution to this
problem, but as of yet I can't find one.
XHTML Transitional seems to specify that I can no longer set a table's
height to 100% and vertically center content inside of it. Therefore,
I'm seeking a way, preferably in CSS to vertically center a site.
Here's more of a visual to what I have:

Hi,
Up to now, I didn't find a solution to align text in the middle of a inline
neither block box in the vertical direction. That's because the
vertical-align property is not active for many boxes.
And when it is, not all the browsers folow it.
I think there is a general solution in surrounding the box with another box,
using the top property and fixing the top position at the middle of the
surrounding box minus the half height of the box...

Sorry if this is a dumb question buy my CSS is pretty bad... but how do
I get text to center vertically within a div tag? Here's my code
below... the text is displaying on the far top-right. I would like it
far right centered vertically.
#test
{
width: 100%;
height: 55px;
margin: 0 0 0 0;

Hello
This is a test example:

After googling and experimenting for several hours, I ended up doing
this demo with tables. The main problems are the vertical centering of
the info area, and of the text inside the squares.

I'm new(ish) to css, comfortable using tables, but trying real hard to move away.
Please see http://84.9.125.31/developer/css_test/test5.html
NB This issue is with IE & Opera - I've tried IE 6&7 and both have the same result. It works fine in FF. Thanks to Petr Stanicek for the original example.
As you can see the table is 800px wide in the middle column and it's vertical position is affected by the amount of text in the left or right...

Hi
How can I have IE7 act correctly on that ?
The rules make the link text go down when hovered. It works in FF , I had to
add a hard space right after the LI tag to have OP9 work but I can't figure
how to have IE7 work. Why?
How can I have it work in all 3 browsers?

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
