List Menu

Hello,

I am creating a simple List Menu where when a mouse is over a button
the background changes:
http://www.27lamps.com/public/Menu.htm

Why do I get a white space between each menu item?

Thanks,
Miguel

Because you have:
2spaces + CR/LF + 2spaces
^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^
between each </li><li pair

Sorry about that.
One line removed. ( ^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^ )
To correct your problem:

Remove the
2spaces + CR/LF + 2spaces
and it should look like this:

Home</a></li
><li><a href="Services. htm">
or something like this:

Home</a></li><li><a
href="Services. htm">

etc.

I updated my code following your tips and I solved that problem.
However, now I have a new problem which is something I have
experienced before.

The Menu gets over the text that is coming next?

Any idea why?

Thanks,
Miguel

Hi, I have create a dropdown menu which looks as expected in Safari (Mac). Viewing it in FF (Mac) or IE6 (Windows) it's a bit messed up. It also seems that when the top level links are clicked (#nogo) the whole structure collapses. I'm staring to this code for hours now, but I can't figure out why it is not cross-browser, compatible, valid etc. Could someone please take a look at the code and provide suggestions how to improve it.

Most applications whose purpose is to work with various types of files implement a "Most Recent Files" list, where the last, say, four files accessed by the application can quickly be re-opened by clicking on the file name in the File menu. Thist list is usually just above the typical Exit menu item. I take it there is no "automatic" way of implementing this, that each application has to have code that manually does this. I have a good...

CSS newbie again. I have a problem trying to get coffee mug images within anchor tags to center with my link text for a vertical list menu. If I use the horizontal/vertical properties of "background" or "background-image", the positioning only works with specifying pixels. If I specify the vertical position in pixels, the image gets cut-off at the bottom. I don't know what to do and would appreciate anyone's help. Specifically the code...

Greetings, I am using Dreamweaver CS3 to design an ASP page that contains an Insert Record Form. Within this form are two list/menu form fields that I would like to "synchronize". In other words, let's say one list/menu is where the user selects "Program Name" and a second is for selecting "Project Name". If the user makes a selection from the first list/menu, then the second list/menu is requeried and "refreshed" to show only the project...

I am having a very odd problem with a website I run. The menus have recently been changed to use javascript and some people are reporting that when they first use the site, Instead of a nicely aligned list of items each in its own light-blue box. They are seeing a straightforward <li> list with no styles. The biggest problem is that I think it is only seen the first time someone goes to the site and so I can't see it!!! So if anyone could...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
