Footer stuck in middle of page in Firefox/Opera

2 New Member
Hey everyone...new to web design and this forum so "help me help you" as to the normal procedures.

Page: http://voicetalkinc.co m

DOCTYPE: XHTML Transitional

Layout: CSS

Both pages are validated.

My footer is getting stuck in the middle of the page in Firefox and Opera, but works fine in IE7. I'm assuming that the previous are operating correctly, so any suggestions?

Thanks in advance and let me know if I need to post any code.

I just got back from a grueling experience so I'm pretty tired but...

You have the footer both relatively positioned and absolute positioned at the same time. Which is it going to be? You can't do both.

The abs pos property will override the rel one, though, which will remove it from the normal flow but it will rise to its next positioned element. FF and Opera are performing correctly while IE is not, as expected.

I can look at this more after I've had a nap.

As a side issue, mobysurf, I notice that you specify Content-Type as application/xhtml+xml in a META tag -- that, in itself, will not determine how the content is served -- your page is actually being served as Content-Type text/html. Visit Serving XHTML Documents for an explanation.

Hi, I spent quite a while to solve a problem (and noticed during my research that the question was asked quite often, but I didn't find the answer :-( ) We would like to place a footer (imprint and copyright) at the bottom of a page). It should be at the bottom of the window, if there ist less content. It should be at the very bottom of the page ift there is more

Hi everyone. I'm just making new HTML pages for a site. This time round I've brushed up on my CSS and trying to use as much of it as possible and as well as trying to keep it W3C compliant. So far everything's been going well and the code is currently about 1/3 smaller and running it through the W3C validator doesn't throw any errors! :-) I've basically got it how I want it minus one problem. And that is that I can not seem to figure...

Hi. I've been using CSS for basic stuff, mostly concerning fonts. I want to get going with using CSS fully. Two days ago I purchased O'Reilly's "Cascading Style Sheets" and "CSS Cookbook." I've been reading them and have tried some really basic stuff and am not having a very good time (lol). I'm feeling really stupid, to be honest. I was able to center an image on a page by mucking about with code primarily from the Cookbook. I only...

I've been toying with this for many weeks now and it still doesn't work as desired; I'm trying to develop with css compliance. In general my pages are within a container. Withing the container there is a header, a left column menu/nav box, a right box which contains the various pages content; and at the bottome of ALL pages is the close of the container section followed by a footer.

Hi to All, I am new to html authoring, so sorry if my terminology is not correct or exact. I would like to position a footer div to the bottom of the browser window. As I research in the web shows this could be done a containing element with "min-height: 100%;" and an absolute positioned element (div) inside, aligned to bottom ("position: absolute; bottom:0px")

Hello all. Please try this link for me and let me know what you see: http://www.neave.com/temp/stretch_test.html You should see a green header filling the top of the page, a red footer at the very bottom of the page and a white Flash movie filling the gap in between. You'll need at least Flash Player 7, otherwise it will just show black. It shouldn't scroll, it should act like a framed page but

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
