Horizontal Nested Lists?

20 New Member
Hello,

I am trying to get an effect where I use nested lists, but they are arranged horizontally, like so:

Item 1......1.a
............... 1.b

Item 2......2.a
............... 2.b

Moving the sub-items out to the right is no problem with CSS. I am having trouble moving them vertically, though. I thought I could just float them, but no, they stop just below the main item.

I can apply a negative vertical value (e.g. top:-30px), but that comes with its own issues. For instance, if the text size changes, the position of the sub item in relation to the main item changes as well.

Any tips on how to set the sub items so that they will always begin on the same vertical line with the main item? Seems like it shouldn't be that hard, but I can't figure it out.

Thanks!

I am writing a program to do some reliability calculations that require several nested for-loops. However, I believe that as the models become more complex, the number of required for-loops will increase. Does Python have a limit on the number of nested for-loops? Thanks.

I have a number of unordered lists nested within ULs nested within ULs nested within ULs. I have set the style for LI to be .7em. Mozilla gives me the layout as I imagined it, with the lists indented and all at .7em. MSIE, however, shows the indented lists, but the font gets smaller and smaller as the lists nest deeper and deeper. Presumably, it is inheriting the properties of the list it is nested in, thereby giving me 70% of the...

I'm still relatively new to stylesheets. I'm trying to do something that seemed fairly simple on the surface, but is proving to be a challenge. I have a set of nested lists: <ul> <li>Side One</li> <ul> <li>Pac-Man Fever</li> <li>Froggy's Lament</</li> <li>Ode to a Centipede</</li>

In particular the horizontal nav bar accross the top of the page. viewd here http://foundations.port5.com/currprojects/babylon.html I am running win XP and have tested in both Avant (MSIE) and Opera 7.23 the result is a different problem in each.

Hi everybody, I am very happy to find this group. I am searching for a solution to make a horizontal list menu with submenu on hover. I found a lot of examples for horizontal lists which open vertical lists on :hover i.e. http://phoenity.com/newtedge/horizontal_nav/ But what I am looking for is a horizontal list that opens another horizontal list and both need to be right-floated.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
