Wrappers can't show background image behind other divs?

43 New Member
I'm not sure if this is possible, but I thought that my best shot would be to ask here.

My site's coming along well at http://www.antiriddle.com and I'm trying to improve on the current design. The layout I'm trying to do is a three-column layout and my markup looks like this:

<div id="contentwrap per">
<div id="leftcontent ">
</div>
<div id="centerconte nt">
</div>
<div id="rightconten t">
</div>
</div>

Each div, except for the wrapper represents a different column. Currently, I only have a main body gradient going and everything else has a clear background. I tried making an image the width of my contentwrapper and applying it with repeat-x but it didn't work. Any idea for how I could use a single image behind all of these columns? Also, I tried slicing images but that just messed up with the padding.

Thanks in advance!

Alright for one, I've realized that it should be repeat-y. Still haven't figured out the problem, but I'm still looking.

Another thing I've figured out is that although IE6 isn't supporting the transparent PNG, the background image does show up. It doesn't even appear in Firefox. Maybe this is some sort of known issue but I haven't been able to figure it out...

Ok I figured it out myself. I had to add a min-height value for the contentwrapper so that it knew how far to show the background image. I hope that it will expand as more content appears in the columns.

Is there any way to work around the blank space created by hidden divs? I'm trying to use a relatively postioned divs with show/hide behaviors to annotate an image. The divs show/hide onMouseOver/onMouseOut but leave a blank space on the page when hidden (the space where the divs would normally be). Is it possible to use z-indexing to put regular content where the hidden divs would be? When I try to do this, the layers don't unhide as...

I'm hoping that someone can explain what's going on; better yet provide a workaround. I'm designing a centered CSS site based on a 550 pixel wide vertical background image. Onto this background I built a two column layout with nested navigation and content divs. The background image is centered via "background: ... center;", the divs are centered over it via "margin: 0 auto 0 auto;". The problem I'm having in IE6 is inconsistent...

Does anyone know why the header looks correct in IE 6.0 and not Firefox 1.07? I am trying to have a header that looks good when you expand it wider and smaller. In other words when you shrink the window narrower than the main header image it does not wrap, and when you expand the window wider than the main banner image the corner and background image expand to the size. It has one large image about 500 pix wide, a right corner that is...

I'm trying to figure out how to modify a panel (panel1) from a backgroundworker thread. But can't get the panel to show the new controls added by the backgroundwork task. Here is my code. In this code there is a panel panel1, that I populate with a lable in the foreground. Then when I click on "button1" a backgroundworker thread in async mode is started. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
