unwanted padding/margin in ie6...help!!!

1 New Member
hi guys,

bit of a strange one. when using the holly hack to address the well-documented "expanding box" problem in ie6, i encounter an undesired side-affect - all my unordered list items exhibit a phantom 4px pad (right & bottom only).

i've attached some sample code to illustrate (in this case with images although it applies to text also).

any clues? :(

I am developing a Periodic Table of the Elements as<DIV>s ..(chuckle - just kidding!) a <TABLE> at http://www.physci.org/test/chem/, or rather, the table itself is.. http://www.physci.org/test/chem/ptoe.html It contains valid HTML and CSS (checked 'moments' ago). Am testing in IE 6 on XP. My questions..

There's a page http://www.dwarfscorner.com It looks as nice as I could design it; I like it, I think. There's just one thing I can't get along with: the vertical allignment of h2 in grey and white sections. The former is noticably lower than the latter! And I can't figure out why it is this way. The grey section is floated - does it influence the standard padding/margin in any way? Corresponding CSS style file can be found here

I am having a problem where an extra gap (whitespace, padding) appears in a table cell where I don't want it. The data fed in the table is via dynamic HTML, so the amount in the middle cell may vary. When the data in the middle table cell is little and that cell's height is small, an unwanted gap appears in the first table cell. I would prefer to have all additional blank space at the bottom of the table (last row) and not have any in...

A veteran of early html, I've modified my blog template and made it look rather clean (albeit rather plain) when viewed with IE. Ironically, I'm a big Firefox fan, but when viewed in FF, my blog leaves a lot to be desired. The blog (which is at http://lazycomic.blospot.com/ ) is a basic two column style, with the right column being the one that's giving me the problems.

Hi everyone. I have just been making a JavaScript chat applet, which should open in a new child window. It does all of this fine, and works within Firefox beatifully. However, IE thinks it's necessary to stop my iFrames from spaning the entire length and width of the Window, and add about 7-8mm of padding/margin to the inside of the Window. I can't figure out, whether it's adding it to the inside of the window, or the outside of the...

This is driving me insane, and I can't seem to fix it. I am getting an 8px padding on the top and left of any and all HTML docs I make. Example: http://www.oregonstate.edu/groups/fwclub/new/index.html That is the most complicated one, of course. I then proceeded to test with just an image on a page, and it still did that. I did big images, small images, gifs, jpegs, it's still there! I am using Text Wrangler to code the pages, but I also...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
