How do I for instance, fade the background color from dark gold at the top of the page to a light gold, by the time it gets to the bottom of the page?

this hack only works for IE only, the only other way todo this is with an image.. can't be accomplished via js
Ack! Again I misread the question. (I thought this was a question of dynamically fading/lightening the color) Do not use filters. They are not standard and only work in IE and, sometimes, Safari.
Instead, use CSS gradients. You can Google for them while I piece together something for you. Here's the common method to get you started. Scroll to gradients. Or Google for "css gradients" to get a whole pile of examples.

Hi,
Is anyone using a color scheme for his Python scripts? I suspect
most people are using a text editor which may or may not support
colorisation of scripts (like Apple's Script Editor does).
The page at
<http://interscript.sourceforge.net/interscript/doc/en_iscr_0328.html>
contains a colorized tokenizing script. I assume the script can
be used to make colour schemes and that a similar script is used

Jakob Nielsen in his most recent Alertbox
(http://www.useit.com/alertbox/20040503.html) tells web authors to
change the color of visited links.
I agree to his purpose: Help users understand where they have been. I
also agree to the background: Too many web authors keep uniform link
colors or their pages, thereby confusing the users.
What I have a hard time agreeing to is his conclusion that web authors
should deliberately change the...

Hi,
I am writing a class in JavaScript to cause a repeating fade effect.
The fade class takes care of the fading and the rgb class takes care of
manipulating rgb values:
function rgb(red, green, blue) {
// private variable initialization
this.red = red;
this.green = green;

In the past I have not done enough to make my pages accessible, but want
to make a better effort now.
I thought it would be fairly easy, but so far I have only succeeded in
producing a major headache.
I started out with a color scheme (based on client logo and their
current print material), and for most of my text black is fine.
I want to add a css navigation bar and have discovered that using trial

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
