Looking for a good HTML editor... for Mac

I have gotten very used to writing my HTML code in notepad, but have recently switched to mac. Although NotePad has some problems, the mac equivalent, TextEdit, is terrible! I can save a file OK, but when I open it again it switches to WYSIWYG mode, which I can't stand, and I can't figure out how to get it off.

What I would really like is a simple, easy editor, hopefully easier to use than one of those old command-line editors, but not necessarily with more function. I don't want a WYSIWYG editor, but I guess one that anticipates and prompts would be OK. Does anyone know of a good free program available for mac?

Yes, thanks for the advice, but if I had just wanted a list I would have tried google first. I wanted to know if anyone had experience and could give unbiased opinions, not just what the developers think of their products. I have come to dislike taking the time to download a program only to find out it is little better than the default system software, and not worth the effort to download.

Anyway, I guess I'll check out Kestrell's links

Actually, there is a free open-source all-powerful web designer called PHP Designer. While originally made for PHP, it can help with html, css, etc.

Just download the free version:

Hi! I'm looking for a replacement for the standard interactive python shell. So far I've tried IPython and PyCrust. I liked both, but I'm not 100% happy with any of them. My main complaint about IPython is its missing support for multiline editing. To do multiline editing, it has to start an external editor, but then I lose all the nice features like autocompletion. PyCrust supports multiline editing, but the autocompletion is not as...

Looking for a tool that can edit an XML file in a browser. The basic requirement is that the XML file is rendered as an HTML form with editable fields (including add/delete, preferably in accordance with with the document's XSD/DTD or other schema definition). I don't mind the actual form of this tool - could be implemented as a JSP/Servlet, ASP component, or browser plug-in for local or remote XML file access. Alternatively, it doesn't...

Hi, Hopefully this is not too much offtopic. I'm working on a FAQ. I want to make two versions of it, plain text and HTML. I'm looking for a tool that will make a plain text doc out of the HTML doc. The HTML version doesn't have anything fancy, just internal links. So the tool must be able to delete internal links and anchors from the HTML version, but leave external links in simplified form. That is, the HTML version would say <a...

I'm looking for a good (non-wysiwyg) editor for HTML and CSS. I want something that will help me produce non-dynamic pages with a minimum of excrescences (no, javascript, flash, etc.) in supportable style. I am using CSS as much as possible to organize these pages, but since I'm still fairly new at CSS I'd like a good set of help features as well. Freeware would be nice, but functionality is more important.

Hi, Coming away from the luxury of the delphi IDE has been something of a shock. As a consequence I've become aware that maybe I need to spend some money on a python IDE. As a beginner I reckon integrated debugging would be helpful.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
