IFRAME trouble

1 New Member
My page is split into 3 sections.

1.The main layout.
2. Content box (IFRAME)
3. Footer w/ links (IFRAME)

I have the javascript code to break frames on my main page, so when one of the links in the footer is clicked it breaks, so it can load the main layout and content box.

Well on one of my content box pages, I want to go to certain spots in my page. So I use the code <a name"whatever"> whatever</a> and then when I make a link to it I use a href="whatever. html#whatever"> whatever</a>.

Well I am assuming that my code to break out of frames is also taking effect on my content box, because when the link is clicked, it loads the whole main layout, content box, and footer in my content box IFRAME.

Is there any way to fix this?

I would appreciate all help.

for inline links you only need #linkname. if you want to link from outside the page you have to do it in javascript because you have to specify the dom. It's been so long ago i used frames if forgot the code for frames :)

It's not good practice to put your content in an iframe because bots don't register it then. Use a server side language to stitch the page parts together this will be better for your site and if you want to limit the width and height of the content because of the design you can always use css (overflow for adding scrollbars).

I'm (still) having trouble reading the contents of an IFRAME (IE5). I have this: var my_iframe = document.frames; What I would want to do at that point is get either the contentWindow.document or the contentDocument depending on whether this was IE or Mozilla. (Thanks Lasse.) I'm not finding this.

Hi! I'm having a little trouble with an IFRAME added in an HTML page. IFRAME has a fixed size and it contains another HTML page, which only has some text paragraphs and a pair of images aligned left and right (with 'style="float: {left | right}"'). There's no tables or anything with a fixed size. Problem is that in browsers like Opera 7, the IFRAME shows perfectly and just vertical scroll bar is showed (that's what I want). But on...

Hi geniuses (or is that genii, or genies) The challenge is as above really. I have a page with an iframe in it, and need to call a JS function in the *parent* page, *from* inside the iframe. (It's for Google Maps, but I won't bore you with the complexities of that, as it doesn't affect the question). Mochas kudos to anyone able to solve this widdle.

We have a non asp web page that contains a hyperlink which opens an iframe. The iframe is hidden until the hyperlink is selected then javascript toggles the visibility to 'visible'. Inside the iframe is our aspx page which contains a gridview. I've manually set the iframe width to larger than the gridview will ever be and have allowtransparency set to 'true' so you really can't see the iframe, just the gridview. As gridview paging...

Hello Everyone, I was stuck with this really frustrating problem for sometime. Let me explain what I am trying to achieve: There is a form and an inner iframe. The form's target is set to the iframe so that when the form is submitted, the page does not get reloaded/changed ( as the iframe would be the one getting refreshed. The Iframe is set to have 0 width and height to make it look invisible ). I have a copied the html source ( at...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
