Site not working in Safari

2 New Member
This site is working perfectly in IE and Firefox, but seems to lose most formatting when viewed in Safari. Font styles are appearing, but the layout is pretty much non-existent. There are a few other pages on the site that use both the original css file (layout.css) along with a second one (photodept.css) . The part of the page which uses the second css file is formatted fine, but still the page header using layout.css is messed up. Any ideas on why this one css file wouldn’t be formatting the content correctly?

I checked it out and confirmed, safari just seems to ignore your .css spacing. Since you used a linked stylesheet, I couldn't see the code, but since it works in explorer just fine, it probably isn't a coding problem. Since safari does find the fonts, I would say it definitely finds the .css file.

The problem must be that Safari doesn't recognize whatever code you used for positioning. What a headache! Are you using absolute positioning? Do your divs' styles include a "no wrap"?

Here is the link to the css file that screws up the layout:

And here is the link to a second css file used on some pages of the site that looks normal. I'm not sure what is done differently between the two:

sorry, I keep meaning to check this out better, but I only have safari at home, and I usually check the forum during lunch break. I suspect that other browsers are recognizing markup that isn't quite kosher. stop by w3c and run the sites through a validator (see stickies) just to make sure. They probably won't give you the solution, but they might find the problem. I also suspect that our beloved moderators would suggest this as the first step to find the problem.

I suggest starting a new thread outlining specifically what isn't working and provide either a link to the website or your code.

I am using the function below to add multiple checkbox selection to an array. The form gets submitted to a PHP script. The function works fine with IE 6, Netscape 7 and Firefox 1, but it is not working with Safari 125. Is there something I just can't see that would cause this?? Thanks. <!--Begin var submitcntiselect = 0;

I am a newbie. This is someone else's code which I have to modify to work in Mozilla and Safari. The changes I made so far have allowed it to work in Mozilla but not Safari. It seems to be getting hung up on the first line of code. I put an alert after that line and I never saw it in Safari but I did see it in Mozilla. Any Thoughts? Thanks, Andrew Here's the code:

HI Folks, New here but i've followed a few other threads in the past so hoped someone could help! Have a new site design that seems to work fine in FF/Safari/IE6 but not IE7... i'm not sure where the issue lies, but it seems to be CSS related and the way in which IE7 handles it - though i am also getting an error claiming a variable is either null or not an object - but only in IE7 again.... Hi, I'm currently working on a small "student support" website for my college. I've validated both the xhtml and css with W3C and pounded out all of the bugs in most major browsers. However, Safari seems to be ignoring the "margin-top:-130px" property of an image in my footer and I'm not sure why. When I commented out that property, IE and Firefox displayed the problem identically to Safari so I can tell that it's simply skipping that...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
