Firefox css-problem

The following style sheet for creating drop caps works fine in Safari,
Opera, Omniweb and Explorer, the drop caps extend over 3 lines. Only in
Firefox it doesn't look as it should, they extend over nearly 4 lines
(under Mac OS X). With Firefox under Windows, they extend over 3 lines
but are shifted too high.
Any idea/solution?
Thanks

Does anyone know how to center this sample webpage in Firefox? If so, will you provide the example as it applies to this sample webpage? I have read numerous posts and articles on how to center content with CSS...none are working for me. The best I can do at this point is the "text-align: center" for my div tag, but that only works in IE. I want to be able to center all the content within the div (effectively center the site content) for...

I'm just getting into XHTML & CSS. This early test page http://www3.telus.net/public/wexsessa/csstest/fftest.html displays as expected in IE 6 (which I did not expect) but Firefox ignores almost all the CSS (which I did not expect). Both the HTML & CSS validate OK. I installed the Web Developer Extension in Firefox (V 1.07) and discovered something interesting:

Ok, I'm trying to be a good little boy and create a site that doesn't use frames :) Things were going along decently until I uploaded what little I have done so far to the web server (that is, things were displaying pretty well on my local machine - not perfect, but we'll get to that later). So here's the site: http://www.wesleyumc-vinton.org/beta/index.html This page displays pretty good in IE, but all the graphics and styles are...

Hello Group, I am developing a web site using CSS. I have a div that has a vert scroll bar in it. The div works just fine (scroll up and down, etc). I have regular text (using <ptags) in the div, as well as an unordered list - with 3 or 4 list items. The display of text in the scroller div is just fine in firefox. When I look at the same page using IE 6 - my li text is larger (font size) than the text in the <ptags.

I have developed a generic list-based css menu. It works both in IE7 and Firefox, and with the help of Peter Nederlof's csshover.htc, with older IE versions. I have included a simplified version below. The list goes something like this: <ul class="menu"> <li>Menu 1 <ul> <li>Item 1</li>

I am using foldoutmenu 3 and am having problems with viewing my menus in firefox. On my sub3 menus i have more than one line of text in some places. firefox does not recognise that there is more than one line and the text simply overlaps the sub-menus below it. I thought i had got around this by placing empty 'spacers' like so; oFoldMenu.make('sub3','')//spacer unfortunately, i have just viewed the site in IExplorer and it has added...

Hi - Some background info: I'm helping to redesign an internal website at work, and I've decided to use CSS, though I don't really have any experience with it. I figure now's a good time to learn...and what I know right now, I've pretty much learned in the last week or two. At work, we have access to only two browsers, IE 6.0 and Firefox 2.0, so these are the only two browsers I can test the site in, and they're the only ones that...

Hi guys, First post, hope you can help, I have done two sites www.trisant.co.uk and my own www.firstexact.co.uk. The 2 x 2 grid I originally envisaged goes haywire in Firefox as I get a 4 high by 1 wide grid. think it's something to do with my floats and clear both with a <br> in CSS..I have tried everything I can think of, the sites are fine in IE 6/7..Some of the text formatting and the navigation fonts are in different places.. Here's...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
