defining global styles. input text vs input button

Hi,
i wanted to define default global styles that would be used by 90% of
controls. I would like to differentiate input text controls from input
button controls.
is there a way to specify this in this sort of way:
input text { font-family: verdana; }
input button { font-family: arial; }

also, if i do this, and than override specific controls with custom
styles, would it be recommended practice?
<table id="Navigation" ><tr><td>
<input type="text" />
</td></tr></table>
#Navigation input { backgroundColor : "#ffffff"; }

here i am overriding default input style.

this sems like the cleanest way to go about it.

Attribute selectors.

input[type=text] etc

Not supported by IE 6 and earlier, I don't know about the level of support
in IE 7.

Use classes instead.

There are no error messages apperaing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks....

Is there a way to define a constant value for a color in a CSS declaration? I have numerous colors in different CSS elements, and if I make a change in color, I have to change all the reference to the color. For example: Instead of this: color: #306090 I would like to say: define MyShadeOfBlue = '#306090'

I've got a function, you can see it below, that is being called onmouseup in the textarea on my main form. The idea is to find a selection if possible and store that text in a global variable. I can't get this to work in any browser on a Mac, though it works alright on a PC. What am I missing?

Is there a way to reset the style property of an HTML element to some default or to all empty values? I have a group of elements whose style settings may be changed arbitrarily at certain points in a script (maybe set the background color and font weight of one element and the text align of another), but at another point I want to undo all of these changes and go back to the original state (which is actually all empty styles). Is there a...

I have an HTML page of thumbnail images. Each image can begin a slideshow of the images on the page by clicking on the image. This opens another HTML page that begins the slideshow using large images of the thumbnails. When the slideshow begins it always starts with the first image. I would like to pass the name of the thumbnail to the slideshow HTML page and begin the slideshow with the same image the user clicks on. Is this asking...

I know in a css file, i can declare a style which will apply to a given HTML tag, specifically, i am looking at an INPUT tag. Is there any way in which i can create a style section which will apply to a specific *type* of input?? That is, a section which applies only to or only to or whichever? Thanks in advance.

Hi, Is there a way to force .NET to add styles to controls to display properties as set in the VS.NET designer? I'm using Visual Studio.NET 2002, and therefore 1.0 .NET framework. For example, I've created a page that has a textbox control with its width set in the VS.NET designer. When the page is displayed in IE6 it has the style added to the input field to display it how I wanted: <input name="LeftMenu:txtMiniAge" type="text"...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
