Link validation and finding orphaned files

I have built a Domino Web Application. I am looking for a tool that
will be able to scour my site and find all files that are orphaned. I
have found a few tools on the web that can do this kind of thing
however they ask for ftp information to your file server so that they
can index everything on your file server and then compare that to
everything that they have indexed from their web scour of your site and
what ever files are left over from the difference are the orphans. I
cannot plug in conventional ftp info into these programs because I am
not using a traditional file server to serve up my web content.
Everything is contained in only one file on the server which is my nsf
(the notes database file) and that will do nothing for these tools.

I do have another approach or option in mind. What I can produce is a
list of every single url to both webpages and all files on my website
as a list. I am than thinking that I could take this list and feed it
into some kind of link validation/orphan seeking program that will be
able to extract from this list which files are not referenced from a
webpage on my site.

Is anyone aware of such a tool? If so, please enlighten me!

All help is appreciated!

I have a web site that, due to maintenance by several people, some of whom are fairly clueless about HTML and CSS, etc. (notably me), has gotten to the point where I'm pretty sure it's suffering from bit rot. Though the pages seem to display okay under IE and FF, I really think it's time for an under-the-hood cleaning. I recently received a copy of Molly Holzschlag's "Spring Into HTML and CSS," and in the first chapter, she makes a big...

I am porting a Java XML Validation class over to C# and I am having a problem finding exactly what I need to acomplish the task. First I need to test for well formedness. I know this is usually something that does not need to be done, however in this case it is required. Is the best way to do this to validate to the schema and if no exception is thrown it must be well formed? What exception would be thrown if the document is found to not...

Hello, We've recently migrated a very large (40+ projects, 1+ million LOC) VC6 workspace to VC7.1. In general, the compiler and linker are slower. The worst seems to be the release link; under VC6 it would take 15 minutes to link the main exe, under VC7.1 it typically takes an hour. Anyone have any tips on how to diagnose the bottleneck and find workarounds? This is just one of several severe problems we've encountered in the...

Hello, I am having a particular problem, and am unable to understand where the problem is coming from. I am developing C# asp.net using the original version of VS and FW 1.0. I have field validators placed on various fields. When I run the page from the development box the validators work correctly. I am xcopying .aspx files and /bin directory files to distribution server.

I have a golden list of urls to each and every file on our corporate website. This includes all webpages and file resources. I am looking for a tool whereby I can plug in the base url of our website and also plug in this golden list of urls and have the program figure out which files are orphaned and not linked to any other webpage on our site. Is anyone aware of a tool that will do this? Thanks

Over the past couple days I've been trying to reduce the large number of orphaned wiki pages, deleting many, stitching many others back into the fabric. There are a bunch of orphaned PyCon-related pages, mostly subpages of PyCon2005 and PyCon2006. Would someone with PyCon-fu want to check them out and decide their fate? If so, visit http://wiki.python.org/moin/OrphanedPages and scroll down to the "P" section.

If someone were to write a utility that would go through your html, and javascript code and validate it/modify it, what language/ technology would you experts suggest I use? I know that the W3C already does this, but I wanted to write something simple on my own just for learning purposed. Anyway, I was thinking about using C# or javascript, that would accept the files, and then call some external objects/classes to handle the parsing and...

Folks: As a follow-up to my recent posts, I want to ask some more general questions about multiple instances of a CSS link in a page as seen by browsers due to server-side file inclusion. Let me set up my question by providing skeleton code for two files: Here's a skeleton of "index.php": <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
