I have noticed in the book of words that hasattr works by calling getattr and raising an exception if no such attribute exists. If I need the value in any case, am I better off using getattr within a try statement myself, or is there some clever implementation enhancement which makes this a bad idea? i.e. should I prefer: if hasattr(self,"datum"): datum=getattr("datum") else: datum=None

I'd like to purchase Visual C# .Net for learning purposes only since it's a lot cheaper than Visual Studio (note that I'm a very experienced C++ developer). Can someone simply clarify the basic differences. Ok, Visual Studio has C++, VB and J++ thrown in plus some extra bells and whistles (I already have some minimal experience) but are both IDE's essentially the same (including the same IDE support for creating forms, ADO.NET DataSets,...

Is "Trivial constructor" either a default constructor generated by compiler or the one you write but it does nothing (empty inside method definition)? Is it required by C++ standard to bypass "construction" in case of trivial constructor, or just implementation-dependent? In which cases is a construction bypassed? Thanks a lot!

Hello, I'm a beginner in C programming and I have a problem that probably will seem trivial to most of you, however I can't find a solution... So, I have to write a data base - program should ask the user about the data and then do some operations like sorting etc. I decided to use a linked list. The code looks as follows: #include<stdio.h> #include<string.h> #include<stdlib.h>

hi, i am reading a C++ book, it mentions a term non-trivial object. what i understand is: if a object has: a) trivial constructor b) trivial assignment operator c) trivial destructor then it is a trvial object, otherwise it is a non trivial obect, right? thanks

Hello I have got windows application project (C# Visual Studio 2003) with references to external dlls. All I want is to compile everything into one exe file, so that I can send it to another machine and it works. I would also ask about creating installation package so that others could install my application. Best Regard

When I try to find out if a trivial event has handlers, by comparing the event to nullptr, I get compiler error C3918. So my natural question is how does one test a trivial event for handlers ?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
