Anti aliasing on <p>text</p> - stylesheet?

Hi,

I want to display text on screen with anti aliasing to make it appear
smoother. Is it possible to do this in browsers by perhaps applying a
style to it or is it entirely up the the browser? Cheers

Neither. It's usually an operating system setting.

I think it might be a combination - the OS must support anti-aliasing,
but the browser must request it. I say this because on my Windows box,
IE anti-aliased all text, but Mozilla Firefox only anti-aliases text
above 14pt. Of course there could be something else strange going on,
in which case ignore everything I've said...

No.
The reason why Firefox doesn't antialias small font sizes is intended
functionality (improvement of readability for small fonts), coded into
Firefox. You can't change it.

There is no way via HTML you can force a browser to antialias text or
not. Period.

Hmm... I've always found anti-aliased text more readable at small
sizes.
You can't change it.
Yes you can - it's open-source :)

I didn't mean that it could be done though HTML - I meant that it
wasn't just dependent on the Operating System, but the browser as well.

Seems this is a matter of personal taste ;)

Ok, you're right! This I have to agree...

I get the point. I admit I was sort of flying over you posting and
misinterpreted you a little bit.
Yes, it is both a feature of the OS *and* the use of this feature by the
browser.

But the OP was - IMHO - the question, whether it could be possible for a
stylesheet to change the antialiasing behaviour.
The answer to this is still "no".

Cheers,

Of course. If the original poster is still reading, I apologise for any
confusion caused.

Hi all, 1) I have created a huge XML "data base" consisting of people with <name>Charlie</name> <address>High street></address> etc. I wanna use this xml-data base for various HTM-pages for me to surf to; one could be to list all red-haireds on one htm-page, or all people with income > 10,000. In other words many HTM-pages based upon the same data base, i.e. ONE file "people.xml".

I have been researching articles on google on how to create a simple RSS feed that sucks <title><blurb><link><date> out of a sql server 2000 database via an aspx page. I know it has to be pushed into a <xml> document but not sure which direction to take. Is there perhaps a starter document which uses sql server as the data source I can tap into.

Sorry, it's getting late and I'm tired. I'm trying to fill a richtect box with text derived from the array I was asking about earlier (thank you). I'm not sure what I'm seeing - since most of the examples show how to load and save an rtf file into / from a rtbox (may want to save this guy, so that'll come in handy, later). Does anyone one know of a sample showing how to append, piecemeal, text into an rtb with format changes as...

I have a file with topics. I like to copy them in another file but want to have some blank lines between the different topics. I use <xsl:text> element with as data some blank lines to perform this. To clarify my question, I have add all the files required to perform the test. First question: Why doesn't this works anymore if I remove the line with "&#x00A0;" in the XSL-file ?

Hello everyone. I have to find a correct architecture to achieve this XML <=Text conversion platform. The platform (based on Win2003Server) will have to deal with 21 million XML files and 16 million text files a day. The average file size is 1,1 Kb, but they are received by the platform in the form of big archives (7000 files per archive, app. 7.7Mb). After some investigation on the Internet, I have decided (95% sure) to use SAX as...

Hi, I have a query. All html tags start with < and end with >. Suppose i want to display either '<' or '>' or say some text like '<Company>' in html how do i do it? One method is to use &lt, &gt ,&ltCompany&gt to display '<', '>' and '<Company>' respectively. But is there any freeware code available which could implement the above functionality without having to use &gt,&lt and such stuff???

Since the include function is called from within a PHP script, why does the included file have to identify itself as a PHP again by enclosing its code in <?php... <?> One would assume that the PHP interpreter works like any other, that is, it first expands all the include files, and then parses the resulting text. Can anyone help with an explanation? Thanks, M. McDonnell

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
