Does anyone know if it is possible to display text vertically in HTML?
Basically, I want normal text rotated 90 degrees.

there are two easy ways to do this.
1. turn your monitor on its side! or....
2. make a text image.

You can use a script to do it, but why add all those extra lines of code in
your page which wont be supported by all browsers?
So open up your graphics programme and use relative sizing for the image.
Penrose.

The right arrow in IE is displayed aligned to the bottom of the line. Is there any way I can display it aligned vertially in the middle? Example: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <style type="text/css"><!-- sub {vertical-align: text-bottom; font-size: smaller}

If a row of data in a dataset has a lot of columns the row displaying the data in a datagrid will run way off the screen. What I'd like to do is display a row of data over several datagrid rows so the user doesn't have to scroll horizontally. Essentially, I want to wrap a datagrid row (not text in individual columns) with as much control as possible. Make sense? While this seems simple enough on the surface, I can't figure out how to do...

I have to create a image web service that when it receives an imageid parameter it will return a gif image from a file that has been stored on the server. The client will be an asp.net web page that calls the web service to render a vertical strip of images. After doing some research I am unable to find some vb.net code that can assist in what I want to achieve. The closest thing I found was

A much discussed issue, but I'm unable to get results. Using galeon as browser. I have a div, the bottem border of which is solid and serves as a base line. My aim is to line up next to each other on the left three block elements ("bouton") on top of the base line. Here's what I tried: #aa, #bb, #cc {width: 140px; padding-top: 3px; display: inline;}

Hello, I am trying to vertically center text in a background image, I found a solution on this site that sets the line-height to the height of the background image. This works just fine, except when the text is too long that it wraps. div.module h2{ width:178px; width:"182px"; height:28px; font-family:"Avenir Black", verdana, geneva, sans-serif; background:url(../images/nav_subhead_bg.gif) repeat;

Hi. I'm setting up a small photo-album-type thing, where I use PHP to set up a list of images for visitors to click through. That's all simple enough. However, I'm having a weird bug in IE8. Because the images can all be of different sizes (nothing I can do about that... outside my control), I use a CSS trick to get them all centered both vertically and horizontally, and scaled down to a proper size. Basically, I put the image tag...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
