Need Help [deciding which programming language to persue]

Pls I'm a novice in software programming who has a strong desire to learn. i want to know which programming language or languages that is most lucrative.

Perhaps you might consider the easiest to learn first, then go for the big bucks.
I like Python because it is easy for beginners yet powerful enough to build professional quality software with.

What's the context? Are you programming for a specific platform? Are you programming for the web? Are you going to be doing a lot of work with databases?

What is your current setup? Do you have a Mac? PC? Penguin box?
