Hello,
A top level issue:
------------------
Kinldy excuse, as I didn't find a better user group.
I'm at a point in my carrer where I have to switch from C++ to Java. I
have 5+ years of exp. in C++, RUP, UML and OOAD. Now a company wants me
on basis of my exp. in UML and OOAD but wants me to work on Java.
Request you all to give your views on this and help me.
For people who have got habitted of answering only C++ issues kinldy
ignore this posting.

I'm not sure what we could advise you about. You situation appears
to be that someone else is interested in you but not for all of your
stated qualifications. You need to decide if your able to pick up
the missing pieces (Java) to be useful and if you are interested in
abandoning your experience in C++. There are other paths you can
decide to take. All of it is really up to you. Are the benefits of
the proposed change worthwhile and what are your chances of succeeding?
There are also plenty of jobs out there with your stated experience.
Employers can offer you ways to change your career. You can decide
to make those changes as well. Ultimately what is important though
is what you feel about the changes and where you want to be in the
next five or more years.
Good luck,
David
