Virtual drive

2 New Member
Hi all

First I need to create a virtual drive with a fixed drive letter. I want to mount my external hard disk to this location of virtual drive. This drive letter should not changed irrespective of reboot or changing the volume name of external hard disk also.

Please let me know the proper place to put my query.

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Rakesh

Hi there I'm looking for a simple solution of a win32 shell extension (virtual drive). It should make available a new drive with letter, which will be read-only. Instead of a network drive or similar it then should query a server application for directory/file listing. Would be nice to have a lib or similar for that.

Hi, is it possible to create a virtual drive? For instance, let's say I want to create a virtual drive call "Z", and that drive should be visible in the My Computer folder and works like a standard hard drive, but the different is that, all underlying implementations such as create a file at the "Z" drive, etc. will be mapped to my dll or services. Thanks Tony

Hi, I am in a shop where developers are required to work off of a network share. This is so that code is backed up nightly. So I am testing running an ASP.NET Web application with a Class assembly all on a shared drive. I have the solution working perfectly. However, I have run into a hiccup. In order to map IIS Virtual Dir to a network drive, you need

Hi I am in a shop where developers are required to work off of a networ share. This is so that code and other documentation is backed up nightly. This is outside the realm of Visual SourceSafe which we also use for code control. The network drive is used as the working folder. This is a configuration this shop has used for 6 years and I do not see it changing any time soon So I am testing running an ASP.NET Web application with a Clas...

Hi - I have very little C# programming experience. I am making a software product which calls for an interface almost identical to Windows Explorer - and I wondered if mounting a "virtual drive" would be feasable for me (someone not good at programming) to implement. -- LTP :)

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
