Student Date of Birth Validation in Microsoft Access 2000

2 New Member
Hi, I'm an A2 ICT student in second year of college right now and I am working on my database project as my coursework. Its about a dance school with 4 tables Student, Class, Teacher and Enrolment.

I am stuck on the validation for the Student's Date of Birth field. I have figured out that this field has to be:

less than today's date and the student has to be in range of 3 and half to 80 years old.

If anyone knows the answer, please reply on this thread as soon as possible as my deadline is in 2 weeks for the design, thanks a lot

Are you using any front end tool or only designing the database ?

Hi,

Thanks for replying,
What do you mean by a front end tool? I just have to use Access to design and implement the database. I'm not familiar with any programming language as such, I just use simpler validation, A2 level.

I'm trying to write some code that will convert any of the most popular standard date formats twice in to something like "dd Mmm yyyy" (i.e. 08 Jan 1908) and compare the first with the second and calculate days, months, and years. This is not for a college course. It's for my own personal genealogy website. I'm stumped about the code. I'm working on it but not making much progress. Is there any free code available anywhere? I know it...

I am working on a problem and desperately need help! I need to prompt a user for the numerical month of birth, day of birth and year of birth and store it in varialbes and the use the variables to build a date object. Then print the resulting date object, in it's full form. on the screen using document.write. This IS for school and I think I am starting out right, but can't quite seem to grasp what I am doing wrong, or where to go from...

Hi, I am developing a project in which I am checking for records with overlapping start/end dates. Record dates must not overlap date of birth, date of death, be in the future, and must not overlap existing records from the same table. I had this all working some time ago, but recently when I have gone back to do more testing, part of these validations no longer work. While there have been changes to the code in the meantime, I cannot...

I hit on this problem converting a VB.NET insurance application to C#. Age next birthday calculated from date of birth is often needed in insurance premium calculations. Originally done using DateDiff in VB.NET which is only available in C# if you don't mind linking in Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll to your C# application. I wanted to avoid this so set about a pure C# solution which uses a combination of TimeSpan in whole days and the...

Hello, I'm new to SQL Server, working for a non-profit computerizing a lot of its data. I imported a table of people's names, birth dates, etc. into SS2005 from Access, and the birth_date was imported as an Access date/time field, giving it the datetime datatype in SQL. The column values look like: 10/14/1964 12:00:00 AM

Hi, I searched first, but couldn't find an answer. I'm using Access 2003. When entering the date of birth of some of our participants, when I type 1927 it automatically changes to 2027. This only happens for dates under 1930. Any help, links, etc? Thanks, Pam

I am working on an access project for pension calculation. I want to generate the retirement date automatically at the age of 60 years while filling the date of Birth. i.e. if the Date of birth is 15/1/1950 then the date of retirement will be 31/1/2010 and if the date of birth is 01/1/1950 then the date of retirement will be 31/12/2009 one day earlier. Kindly help me how to generate the date of retirement by using VB code in an access project.

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
