Hi - A couple days ago I posted asking for help on how to download a
pushed file. I am trying to write a script to download a bunch of links
from a page that takes a while to load.
I managed to get just about everything done using python to load IE, but
aside from not really liking that style, I couldnt figure out how to
have python download the pushed file, or how to read IE headers into
python (the headers point to the download...

Hi guys. I'm back on the threading gig again.
It's the age-old question about waiting for something to happen without
wasting time doing it.
Take two threads: the main thread and a worker thread. The worker thread is
reading the serial port, waiting for something to happen (a service
request). When it does it raises an event. Of course, the event is executed
on the worker thread. The idea is that when the event is raised, the handler...

Hi All
I'm happily creating an Ajaxified web-app. I use Prototype for
encapsulating xml http requests, with method "post". On the backend, I
use PHP, and the replies are eval'd by Javascript. I do not use XML for
data encapsulation.
The only thing that is off nominal is that my Firefox 1.07 (Mac OS-X)
and 1.06 (Linux) have "Waiting for ..." continuously in the status bar.
I know from server debugging and packet sniffing that there is...

>From what I understand, if multiple threads are waiting on a
ManualResetEvent after calling WaitOne(), only one thread is guaranteed
to be signaled when Set() is called on that ManualResetEvent. How do I
ensure that _all_ waiting threads are signaled, without sacrificing any
of the functionality or much of the simplicity of ManualResetEvent?
Example:

Is it possible to keep some communication going between the browser and web
server going while waiting for a long running process to finish ?
We have one function on our app (ASP.NET / VB.NET) that does a long running
update to the database (takes upto 10 mins) and the browser will often time
out before it completes.
Ideally I'd like to send information back to the browser from the process,
but anything that stops the browser timing...

Hi,
I am supporting an ASP.Net Web application, when I try to run the
application from my system, it throws an error like Web Site Found.Waiting
for Reply. And, this message continuously blinks in the Status Bar.
My Database server resides in another network, and I can ping the database
server and it works. I have also tested http://localhost from Run option, it
also works.
But, I am unable to trace where exactly lies the error.

hello.
I'm trying to halt a function's execution while waiting for user
interaction.
For example, I have a function called getUserValue() that pops up a hidden
div containing several buttons. Each button sets a value. I want use a
function to pop the box, wait for the users' button press, and then continue
the function based on what the user presses.

This is a tough one...
My Windows Service app periodically performs some processing on new entries
to a SQL Server database table. It uses a simple System.Timer to call the
Elapsed event handler (which contains the processing code) every minute. The
processing itself usually takes no more than a few seconds. Even so, I have
a boolean set in the event handler when I'm currently processing information
so that only one thread is...

(sorry, this is probably slightly offtopic here and would be more
appropriate in greasemonkey-users Google Group, but I haven't got any
reply there when posted; I guess, it would work exactly the same with
plain xmlhttprequest, not only the GM_* one; actually, thinking about
it, I can use plain xmlhttprequest, because this is from the same
domain as the page)

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
