Is there any way for Oracle (using standard SQL rather than PL/SQL) to
suppress the newline character when returning a list of rows.
For example, if I have a table EMP with several records. When I issue
the statement:
SELECT name FROM emp
I would like to get a single row output back comprising the following:

Hi, I am storing information being sent to me weekly into a ms sql
database. The one twist I am running into is that later down the line
the information I recieve may require more columns, or columns might
be renamed so having a static database call is out of the question. I
was using mysql but for certain reasons switched to ms sql 2000.
Currently before ms sql, I query the database for show fields which
returns all the database data such...

In CSS3 it looks like we'll have multiple column flowing of text
(newspaper style) in which the number of columns can be determined
automatically given the available horizontal space.
http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-multicol/
Until then, what's the current best practice for achieving the same
effect? Or is it just not possible yet?
Thanks ...

I have a country table with code and name columns and create a stored
procedure 'get_countries()' but have no idea what is the syntax to
return multiple rows.
I have searched the newsgroups and understand that the solution is to
use cursors. Searching for the mySQL solution is to no avail.
Do assist me with the syntaxt.

I've been asking around and reading but I cannot find a definitive answer. I
have customers that need information from our calendar application. The
data will come from SQL Server 2000. The customers who use .net are able to
read the datasets that the web service returns. I'm having problems when
customers are using Java or CFMX.
What is the proper way to "return" data from the webservice. This data will
consist of multiple rows...

Hi All :)
I'm converting VB6 using True DBGrid Pro 8.0 to VB2005 using DataGridView.
True DBGrid has a MultipleLines property that controls whether individual
records span multiple lines. Is there an equivalent property for the
DataGridView? I have searched, but have not found one.
I would like the user to be able to see all the columns of the table on one
screen - thus eliminating the need to use the horizontal scroll bar to view...

Hello –
I’m trying to findout a better solution to this approach.
Currently if I have to return columns from multiple tables, I have to define my own TYPE and then return SETOF that type in the function. I’ve provided an example below.
Now, if I have to add a column to the select query, I have drop the existing TYPE definition, create a new TYPE with the new column added to it, and then modify the function sql to return this...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
