I am trying to make my application into a smart client app. When I put in
the Url in, i get a CLR crash pop-up which says that a
System.InvalidOperationException has occured in IEExec.exe.
any ideas?
I set the intranet permissions to full thorugh the .net permissions wizard.
Is there particular code that could be causing this?
Some of the things i do:
I get assembly version to put in the title of the window.

I made a smart client that I purposed to offer on a web server. But when I
try to run it by dint of Internet Explorer, I get the
System.TypeInitializationException in the IEExec.exe thread.
My exe is signed and has full trust on my computer.
And when I start the programm directly (C:\Inetpub\myfolder\sample.exe) it
works fine.
Has somebody an idea?

I have a windows form program that should not run from the internet. I
placed it in a virtual directory to allow users to download it. When
the try to access it, IEexec tries to run it. Is there any code I can
put in the exe itself that tells IEExec it's not that kind of program?
Something like: System.SomeCoolDotnetClass.DoNotRemotelyExecute
???

Hello!
I've got many programs which crash with the execution engine exception as
they're executed by IEExec. If the programs are executed using the ordinary
host for the CLR, everything works as it should.
Have some of you seen some problems with IEExec as well.
I hope the problems will be fixed at the first service pack.

I have a WinForms based application that I'm launching over http
(Microsoft's buzz word for this is aparently "SmartClient"). I had an
issue trying to get parameters passed in through the URL that I
thought I had solved. For example, let's say I wanted to do this:
http://myserver/appdir/mywinformapp.exe?username=joe&age=12
Providing code access security permissions allow it, mywinformapp.exe
is downloaded to the client and launches...

I am wondering if there are some best practices for determining a strategy
for using try/catch blocks within an application.
My current thoughts are:
1. The code the initiates any high-level user tasks should always be
included in a try/catch block that actually handles any exceptions that
occur (log the exception, display a message box, etc.).
2. Low-level operations that are used to carry out the high level tasks

First let me say that I understand that Asp.Net wraps my exception in an
HttpUnhandledException. I have found a lot of discussion about that on the
web, which was informative, but not helpful. Let me explain how my question
is different.
Second, let me say that I have two questions. One is an ASP.Net related
question. The other is a general System.Exception question. They are related
but also individual.
Okay here is my problem...

We've recently upgraded to .NET Framework 2.0, and we' re running into a
problem with our app's web launch.
The first time our exe is launched from a link in Internet Explorer,
IEExec.exe crashes, and the "Send Error Report" dialog comes up. If I click
on the link again, the application starts without any problems.
This only happens if the file isn't found in both the GAC and the IE
Temporary Internet Files. For example, if I clear the...

Recently I wrote a dll in c++ and to simplify the distribution I decided
to link with multithreaded static library (/MT or /MTd option). In debug
everything works fine but in release I get this:

__thiscall std::exception::exception(void)" (??0exception@std@@QAE@XZ)
2>libcpmt.lib(string.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
